  • Patent number: 8347268
Abstract: Performance tracking of computing systems can be provided by monitoring, determining performance states, and displaying health information. Capacity planning recommendations can be provided by monitoring performance of a software application, determining a plurality of performance state transitions of the software application, and, based on the transitions, making capacity planning recommendations. Performance state transitions can be selected from a set of transitions between four possible quadrant states. Performance of a software application can be categorized into one of the four possible quadrant states from. Capacity planning recommendations can be provided by a capacity planning framework. The framework can comprise a performance monitoring module for monitoring performance of software applications, a quadrant tracking module for determining performance state transitions, and a capacity planning module for making capacity planning recommendations based on the transitions.

  • Publication number: 20070283329
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for performance monitoring and diagnosis of a target machine, including installing a management console configured to communicate with an agent deployed on a target machine; gathering performance data of the target machine via the agent deployed on a target machine; sending via the agent deployed on a target machine the gathered performance data of the target machine to the management console at regular intervals for diagnosis; diagnosing the performance data captured at the regular intervals using a knowledge base representation technique via a diagnosis engine; and raising an alert event on the target machine depending on a criticality of the diagnosed performance data via the diagnosis engine.

  • Publication number: 20070136138
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method comprising, estimating the workload generation by an application under development at an early stage in the lifecycle. In these aspects, using actual business volume data, use case details and the screens associated with each, the present system estimates approximate bandwidth requirements required for the said application. In another aspect of the present technique, the method includes determining the actual bandwidth by a simulation model that takes into account, the random behavior of users in a client-server environment and factors in concurrency required for the bandwidth calculations. In yet another aspect of the present technique, the method includes sizing the bandwidth for determining optimal workloads in networks. In this aspect, saving, the cost reduction is concentrated with greater care, meeting the tight schedules.
