  • Publication number: 20170288883
Abstract: Disclosed are approaches for distributing credentials using derived credentials, such as by relaying a simple certificate enrollment protocol (SCEP) payload. A computing device configures a device profile corresponding to a client device. The device profile can include a SCEP payload. The computing device later receives an override for the SCEP payload from a broker service. In response, the computing device creates a copy of the device profile that includes the override for the SCEP payload. The computing device then sends the copy of the device profile to the client device.

  • Publication number: 20170286332
Abstract: Technologies for processor core soft-offlining include a computing device having a processor with multiple processor cores. On boot, an operating system queries a firmware interface to retrieve a potential offline set of processor cores. The operating system prevents the processor cores of the potential offline set from receiving device interrupts. The computing device detects a platform management event from the firmware interface and, in response to the platform management event, queries the firmware interface to determine a requested offline set of processor cores. Each of the processor cores in the requested offline set is included in the potential offline set. The computing device brings the processor cores of the requested offline set into a low-power state, and then the computing device may start performing a platform management operation. The platform management event may include a memory hot-plug event or a specialized workload event. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 9778990
Abstract: Techniques are described herein which minimize the impact of virtual machine snapshots on the performance of virtual machines and hypervisors. In the context of a volume snapshot which may involve (i) taking virtual machine snapshots of all virtual machines associated with the volume, (ii) taking the volume snapshot, and (iii) removing all the virtual machine snapshots, multiple virtual machine snapshots may be created in parallel. In the process of creating virtual machine snapshots, a storage system may determine which snapshots to create in parallel. The storage system may also prioritize snapshots from certain hypervisors in order to avoid the problem of “starvation”, in which busy hypervisors prevent less busy hypervisors from creating snapshots. The techniques described herein, while mainly described in the context of snapshot creation, are readily applied to snapshot removal.

  • Publication number: 20170278266
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting and tracking a marker in real time is disclosed. Shape based segmentation of at least one object detected in a first frame from a sequence of frames is performed to define a region of interest (ROI) surrounding an object of interest corresponding to the marker. A marker detection model is dynamically trained based on sampling points from a plurality of pixels in and around the ROI. The marker is then tracked in real-time based on projected ROI in subsequent frames and the trained marker detection model. To optimize computation time required in classifying the pixels as marker pixels or non-marker pixels, the ROI is reduced to half its size, classification is performed on the reduced ROI and to improve accuracy, blob detection and classifying pixels along the boundary of the reduced ROI is performed by processing the ROI in original resolution.
