  • Patent number: 9336219
Abstract: Technology is disclosed for managing data in a distributed file system (“the technology”). The technology can gather metadata information associated with the data stored within the distributed file system, create a secondary namespace within a local file system of a local host using the gathered metadata information and store the gathered metadata information as files within the secondary namespace. Further, when a request to create a PPI of the distributed file system is received, the technology can create a PPI of the secondary namespace using a PPI creation feature of the local file system.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are presented for piecewise aggregation of overhead messages. According to a method that is presented, that the method can include starting a timer having a time period during which a first radio access technology (RAT) of the UE attempts to obtain overhead messages from a cell. The method can also include obtaining, at a radio resource of the UE and during the time period, a first portion of the overhead messages from the cell. In addition, the method may include determining that the timer has expired and handing over the radio resource to a second RAT of the UE when the timer has expired. The method also may include aggregating the first portion of the overhead messages with a second portion of the overhead messages. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20160127320
Abstract: A first provider edge network device that is configured in a multi-homed virtual private network for a data center in which there are one or more peer edge network devices including a second edge network device, receives from the second edge network device a message indicating that a link for a particular Ethernet segment of the second edge network device in the data center is down. Information is stored at the first edge network device indicating state of links for Ethernet segments associated with each of the one or more other edge network devices at the data center. The first edge network device forwards of traffic for the particular Ethernet segment locally on Ethernet segments in the data center on behalf of the second edge network device. The proxy forwarding is performed for traffic for the particular Ethernet segment that originates from the data center, that is, for “same-site” traffic.

  • Publication number: 20160124773
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and systems that monitor the utilization of computational resources. In one implementation, a system periodically measures the utilization of computational resources, determines an amount of computational-resource wastage, identifies the source of the wastage, and generates recommendations that reduce or eliminate the wastage. In some implementations, recommendations are generated based on a cost of the computational-resource wastage. The cost of computational-resource wastage can be determined from factors that include the cost of providing a computational resource, an amount of available computational resources, and the amount of actual computational-resource usage. Methods of presenting and modeling computational-resource usage and methods that associate an economic cost with resource wastage are presented.

  • Patent number: 9331516
Abstract: A single power supply level shifter has first and second inverters in tandem that invert an input signal from a first voltage domain and provide a first inverted signal and an output signal in a second voltage domain. A charging control circuit charges a capacitor towards the second voltage when the input signal is high, and conducts a discharge current from the capacitor during a transition of the input signal from high to low to accelerate a corresponding transition of the first inverted signal from low to high. A third inverter controls a current reduction transistor in series with the first inverter, and a third control transistor connected between the input and the charging control circuit to accelerate the flow of discharge current during the transition of the input signal from high to low.

  • Patent number: 9330048
Abstract: A computing environment, such as an data mirroring or replication storage system, may need to process synchronous I/O requests having different priorities in addition to handling I/O requests on the basis of synchronous or asynchronous groupings. The system described herein provides a data storage system that addresses issues involving efficient balancing of response times for servicing synchronous I/O requests having different priorities. Accordingly, the system described herein provides for maintaining an optimal response time for the host-synchronous I/O requests and the optimal throughput of non-host-synchronous I/O requests using a host-synchronous request time window within which processing of non-host-synchronous I/O requests is throttled. The host-synchronous request time window may be selected to enable the optimal response time for the host-synchronous I/O and also to minimize the impact on the overall throughput of the I/O processor of the storage device.
