Next the resulting 3-halo-2-pentafluorosulfanylnaphthalene or derivative is converted to 2-pentafluorosulfanyl-1,4-dihydronaphthalene or derivative by treatment with a base and subsequently transformed into pentafluorosulfanylnaphthalene by removing hydrogen atoms.
