Patent number: 9321052Abstract: A container for collecting water samples to determine dissolved gas includes a flask-type pouch with a spout. A removable cap and valve install on the spout. The valve includes an adapter that fits with an O-ring or other seal inside the mouth of the spout. The valve includes a valve element, which can be a one-way, self-closing type of valve, that fits with an O-ring or other seal inside the end of the adapter. A cap of the container fits over the adapter and affixes to the spout to hold the valve on the spout. In use, the cap can be removed so that the valve element and adapter can be removed for filling the pouch. Otherwise, the cap can remain in place so filling can be performed through the valve element. A tamper-evident ring on the cap may be provided to ensure the integrity of the sample contained in the flask.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2014Date of Patent: April 26, 2016Assignee: Weatherford/Lamb, Inc.Inventors: Todd M. Coleman, Gavin A. Steele

Patent number: 8075156Abstract: A multi-function flashlight device in one preferred embodiment comprising a housing assembly having a tubular member for gripping the device in a user's hand, a control housing coupled to the tubular member, and a lamp housing coupled to the control housing and having a light source mounted therein. The light source has an optical axis that is substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the tubular member. Batteries are housed in the tubular member. A control panel having a keypad overlay is mounted in the control housing. The keypad overlay includes a plurality of control buttons. A driver board in the control housing receives signals from the control panel and control the operation of the light source. The plurality of control buttons are manipulable by a single digit of the user's hand while gripping the tubular member.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2010Date of Patent: December 13, 2011Assignee: First-Light USA, Inc.Inventors: Gavin A. Publication number: 20090201674Abstract: A preferred embodiment of the invention is a hand-mountable flashlight which provides hands-free capability by eliminating the need to grasp the device in order to retain it and independently direct a plurality of light sources. These light sources are ergonomically situated to provide multi-directional lighting when the light is mounted on the hand. A first or primary light source produces a more focused and intense light emission as compared to a second light source referred to as the task light. The placement, brightness and beam characteristics of the primary light source provide adequate illumination at distances up to and exceeding 20 feet in a dark environment. The primary light source is designed to provide forward illumination during navigation and clear target identification when the flashlight is used in conjunction with weapons such as a pistol or other firearms.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2009Publication date: August 13, 2009Inventors: Jeremy B. Ross, Gavin A. Steele

Patent number: 7303306Abstract: Disclosed is a preferred flashlight device configured for potential use with another item such as a firearm or in activities where some manual dexterity of the hand grasping the flashlight is required. Preferred devices include downwardly-extending light and handle portions, interconnected by a linking member. Preferred devices include movable connections between the light and handle members and the linking member, so that the direction of a beam emanating from the flashlight can be optimized to an activity undertaken while holding the flashlight, for example during a two-handed pistol firing position.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2005Date of Patent: December 4, 2007Assignee: First-Light USA, LLCInventors: Jeremy B. Patent number: 5856670Abstract: A continuous sample detector has a cell assembly with a spaced pair of sample cells. Each of these cells is mounted in a sample chamber and each is adapted to conduct a continuous sample flow. These sample cells are connected through a plurality of sample lines. The continuous sample detector also includes a sensor that is mounted and arranged proximate the cell assembly. Relative motion between the sensor and the cell assembly will enable the sensor to alternately detect radiation predominantly from a selected one of the cells. The sensor and the cells are positioned within the common housing to detect radiation with the sensor from predominantly a first one of the sample cells. The sample flow may at that time pass through the first one of the sample cells. The relative position of the sensor and the sample cells may then be changed within the common housing to detect radiation with the sensor from predominantly a second one of the sample cells.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1997Date of Patent: January 5, 1999Inventors: Edward Rapkin, Gavin A.
