  • Publication number: 20220095243
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a dual connectivity configuration for a plurality of communication links, where at least one communication link of the plurality of communication links includes a sidelink. The UE may transmit a report based on an event associated with the sidelink. In some cases, the UE may determine the event associated with the sidelink based on identifying an activation of the at least one additional sidelink carrier, establishing a relay communication link between the UE and a relay network node, measuring a set of path loss values, determining a minimum path loss value of the measured set of path loss values, determining a backoff value for one or more sidelink carriers, or any combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 9839061
Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to the establishment, discovery, and creation of virtual wireless communication networks. A device can create a virtual wireless communication network with a serving mobile network operator (MNO), e.g., via a service provider, and provide information regarding connectivity to the virtual wireless communication network. • Patent number: 9585023
Abstract: To reduce inter-sector interference for “weak” users and combat a potentially large variation in interference levels observed by “strong” and weak users, system resources (e.g., frequency subbands) available for data transmission in a system are partitioned into multiple (e.g., three) disjoint sets. Each sector in the system is assigned one subband set. Neighboring sectors are assigned different subband sets such that the subband set assigned to each sector is orthogonal to the subband sets assigned to neighboring sectors. Each sector has an assigned subband set and an unassigned subband set, which contains all subbands not in the assigned set. Weak users in each sector (which are typically strong interferers to neighboring sectors) are allocated subbands in the assigned set. Strong users in each sector are allocated subbands in the unassigned set. The weak users in each sector are then orthogonal to strong interferers in neighboring sectors.

  • Patent number: 9204428
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate evaluating conditions of nodes (e.g., access points, access terminals, etc.) in a wireless communication environment to determine a level of disadvantage for a given node relative to other nodes. A first node may receive a resource utilization message (RxRUM) and may determine a level of disadvantage for a node that sent the RxRUM. The first node may then compare its own level of disadvantage to the sending node in order to permit a determination of an appropriate course of action in response to the RxRUM.

  • Patent number: 9178732
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate transmitting beacon symbols of a beacon message such that a sequence of symbols can satisfy a linear constraint over a field where the field elements can be identified with carriers. In this regard, a coding scheme can be applied to a beacon message; the coding scheme can produce a plurality of beacon symbols to transmit on given subcarriers. A receiving device of the beacon symbols can decode a beacon message by receiving less than the total number of symbols in a beacon message and determining the remaining symbol subcarriers based on the linear constraint. Thus, more efficient decoding of beacons is facilitated as well as resolving beacon ambiguity by figuring out which symbols satisfy linear constraints for the symbols, and resolving time and frequency shift by detecting an offset that would result in satisfaction of the linear constraint.

  • Patent number: 8942161
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate data communication in a wireless communication environment. According to various aspects, a node, such as an access point or an access terminal, may determine a number of channels over which it will transmit a communication signal. The node may then select channels based on whether the channels are available or unavailable, wherein available channels are preferentially selected over unavailable channels. The node may then transmit a signal over the at least one of the selected channels.

  • Patent number: 8924568
Abstract: A method of managing contention in a wireless network is described. The wireless network may include an access router and a plurality of access terminals connectable to the base station. The method may include designating a data slot as a downlink slot or an uplink slot, and sending a signal from the access router to the access terminals to indicate the designation of the data slot. The access router may determine whether the data slot should be designated as a downlink slot or an uplink slot by assessing information such QoS (quality of service) requirements contained in a REQ message received from one or more of the access terminals, and information regarding buffer level received from one or more of the access terminals.

  • Patent number: 8918114
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that facilitate dynamically adjusting a number of resources, such as channels, frequencies, tones, etc., occupied by a node (e.g., an access point, and access terminal, etc.) in accordance with various aspects. A level of service experienced at the node may be determined, and a resource utilization message (RUM) may be generated if the level of service is at or below a predetermined threshold level (e.g., an acceptable level of service). The RUM may indicate a number of resources selected by the node for subsequent use, and may be transmitted to one or more other nodes.

  • Patent number: 8774105
Abstract: Methods and apparatus related to partitioning traffic segments are described. An access router, having concurrent connections with two access terminals and desiring to transmit traffic signals to the two access terminals in the same traffic segment, partitions a traffic segment. The partition is such that a first portion of the traffic segment is allocated to a first access terminal and a second portion of the traffic segment is allocated to the second access terminal. Control information, e.g., identifying partition portion assignments, data rate and/or coding information, is also communicated in the traffic segment as in-band control signaling. An access terminal, to which some of traffic signals are directed, receives and recovers the in-band control signaling, identifying its allocated partition portion of the traffic segment and identifying data rate and/or coding information used.

  • Patent number: 8743845
Abstract: A method of scheduling data transmission in a wireless network is disclosed. The wireless network includes an access router and a plurality of access terminals connectable to the base station. The method includes determining a number of the access terminals that are connected to the base station, and comparing the number with a threshold. The method further includes determining, based on the comparison between the number of connected access terminals and the threshold, whether to send a dedicated control signal or a shared control signal from the base station, in order indicate which ones of the plurality of access terminals are scheduled to transmit data during a slot.

  • Patent number: 8737373
Abstract: Aspects describe conveying unicast information and broadcast information in a resource set for a transmission request. The unicast information and broadcast information can be transmitted at substantially the same time. Power control can be applied separately to the unicast information and the broadcast information for reliable decoding. A null request can be indicated by “00” bits in a unicast portion and a zero power level in the broadcast portion.

  • Patent number: 8601130
Abstract: A network function is configured to maintain a copy of a session state for an access terminal. The network function is further configured to query a session master to determine whether the session state has changed. The session master is configured to generate a response to the query that enables the network function to update the copy of the session state if the session state has changed. The access terminal may be configured to change the session state at a first network function and send a message to a second network function to indicate that the session state has been changed.

  • Patent number: 8599701
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems, methods and devices for selectively adjusting a quality of service QoS of communication between a wireless access point and a UE based on both a value indicative of system resources and closed subscriber group (CSG) subscription data, such that a member has priority access to system resources over a non-member. The systems, methods and devices described herein allow an access point operating in a hybrid mode to discriminate between CSG members and non-members, without having to terminate communication links in order to provide CSG members with particular QoS levels. In some embodiments, non-members can maintain or establish new communication links with lower QoS levels in order to utilize unused and available capacity, thereby increasing the utilization of system resources available through femto nodes operating in a hybrid mode.
