Patent number: 11814883Abstract: A door for an entryway includes an exterior-facing surface, an inner structure, and a latch mechanism. The latch mechanism is connected to the inner structure and configured to be fastened or released for controlling access to the entryway. The door also includes a key-cylinder accessible from the exterior-facing surface and configured to selectively lock and unlock the latch mechanism. The door additionally includes a pawl configured to be rotated by the key-cylinder about a pivot axis, connected to the latch mechanism, and defining a pass-through aperture distal from the pivot axis. The door also includes a shield defining a shield attachment aperture and connected to the inner structure. The door further includes a security fastener to fix the shield relative to the key-cylinder at the shield attachment aperture and extending through the pass-through aperture without impeding the pawl's rotation or contacting the pawl as the pawl operates the latch mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2021Date of Patent: November 14, 2023Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: Eric S. Nielsen, Steve J. Briggs, Robert D. Granny, Phillip C. Storck, III, Gavin J. Brownlie, Jr., Mark T. McKiernan, Jeffrey Kenneth Hansen, Yong Sang Cho, Gunghun Jang, Suat Kaya

Patent number: 8146293Abstract: A snap-in glass carrier, engageable with a window regulator for snap fitting a door glass having a glass retention hole to the carrier, comprises a carrier base, a regulator attachment extending from the carrier base, a glass retention portion and a finger. The glass retention portion extends from the base spaced from the window regulator portion to define a gap for the glass. The finger, cantilevered from the base, includes a vertical portion extending parallel to the support finger on the same side of the glass as the support finger, a retention tab extending from the vertical portion into the gap that engages the retention hole, a hinge point adjacent to the glass carrier base and located on the same side of the gap as the window regulator attachment, and a spring leg extending through the gap from the hinge point to the vertical portion.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2009Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations, LLCInventors: Gavin J. Brownlie, Jr., Terrence P. Costigan, John D. Caron, Ed Fortin, Doug Broadhead

Patent number: 7937894Abstract: A vehicle door is disclosed that has a movable window and a window regulator including a regulator rail and a regulator slider slidably mounted on the regulator rail and engaging the window for movement between a closed position and a fully open position. The door also has a window down stop stabilizer assembly including a position detecting assembly that detects when the window is in the fully open position, a bumper movable between a first position spaced from the window and a second position in contact with the window, and a bumper actuator that moves the bumper into and out of contact with the window. When the window is in the fully open position, the bumper actuator will move the bumper into the second position and when the window is not in the fully open position, the bumper actuator will move the bumper into the first position.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2008Date of Patent: May 10, 2011Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLCInventors: David T.
