Abstract: A method and system for maximizing and un-maximizing computing resources. The method includes identifying a first and second region in a compute environment, each region comprising a first and second set of compute resources, respectively. The method also includes identifying, based on runtime metadata, a minimum value of the second set of compute resources and a maximum value of the second set of compute resources in the second region. The method also includes storing the minimum value as temporary runtime metadata in the second set of compute resources. The method also includes maximizing the second set of compute resources by updating the minimum value to the maximum value. The method also includes un-maximizing, after waiting a predetermined time period, by setting the minimum value to its original minimum value based on the temporary runtime metadata and clearing the temporary runtime metadata from the second set of compute resources.
