  • Publication number: 20200160315
Abstract: An exemplary method may include receiving a parking space request to locate a nearby parking space for a CAV, searching, based on a location of the CAV, nearby parking facilities, locating at least a parking space, and sending the CAV to journey to the parking space. The method may also include receiving a request for payment of a parking ticket to be issued to a CAV for parking at the parking space, and determining an amount of payment for the requested parking ticket. The method may further include accessing a first account associated with the CAV and a second account associated with the parking facility where the CAV is parked, and conducting a transfer of value from the first account to the second account. The method may further include sending ticket payment information to the CAV. An exemplary parking system server may be configured to perform the exemplary method.

  • Publication number: 20200062249
Abstract: The CAV may include one or more sensors, a communications interface, a driving control configured to be activated to cause a change in the operation of the CAV, and a processing unit communicatively coupled with the one or more sensors, the communications interface, and the driving control. The processing unit may be configured to cause the CAV to: obtain vehicle data regarding a vehicle using the one or more sensors; obtain, using the vehicle data, risk data via the communications interface, the risk data being indicative of a likelihood of an accident caused by the vehicle; determine a risk value based on the risk data regarding the vehicle, the risk value being indicative of a likelihood that the CAV may be involved in an accident; and responsive to determining the risk value is above a threshold level, activate the driving control to modify the operation of the CAV.

  • Patent number: 10424037
Abstract: A secondary validator includes a communications interface with a first antenna and a second antenna having a shorter signal range than the first antenna. The validator also includes a processor and a memory having instructions that, when executed by the processor cause the validator to receive, using the first antenna, vehicle information from a first vehicle that is within a signal range of the first antenna. The vehicle information includes route information associated with the first vehicle. The validator provides an indication for a passenger that has exited the first vehicle to check out, reads checkout information from a fare media using the second antenna, detects another vehicle present within a signal range of the first antenna, and provides the checkout information and at least a portion of the transit vehicle information to a primary validator positioned on the another vehicle for subsequent transmission to a transit system back office.

  • Patent number: 10251090
Abstract: Systems and methods for modifying a wireless communication object during transit. One method includes transmitting, by a loop antenna within a first reader at a first location within a transit system, an interrogation signal to the wireless communication object. The wireless communication object may receive the interrogation signal, modulate an electromagnetic wireless signal with information identifying the electromagnetic wireless object, and transit the electromagnetic wireless signal. The first reader may receive, using the loop antenna, the electromagnetic wireless signal at a first time and a first tap of the wireless communication object may be registered. In response to registering the first tap, a first amount of units on the wireless communication object may be held as unavailable. For each passage of a predetermined amount of time after the first time, a virtual tap of the wireless communication object may be registered at an update time.
