Abstract: A multicomponent crystal (or co-crystal) comprising a first active pharmaceutical ingredient and a second active pharmaceutical ingredient. The multicomponent crystal is formed/sustained by non-covalent interactions between the nitrogen-containing heterocycle alpha-substituted with an amino group of the first active pharmaceutical ingredient and a carboxylic acid group of the second active pharmaceutical ingredient, suitably as well as other further non-covalent interactions with other H-bond forming groups. The multicomponent crystal may provide an improved multidrug dosage form comprising lamotrigine and valproic acid as the first and second active pharmaceutical ingredients, respectively. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of the multicomponent crystal and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient, and a method of forming the multicomponent crystal, are also provided.

Abstract: The present invention provides a fertiliser comprising nutrients adsorbed onto a core material comprising a carbonate mineral. Also provided are methods of producing a solid fertiliser, the method comprising adsorbing nutrients onto a core material comprising a carbonate mineral. The invention also provides a method for treating waste material by anaerobic digestion to produce a nutrient rich liquor and adsorbing nutrients from this liquor onto a core material comprising a carbonate mineral. Also provided are the uses of a carbonate mineral for adsorbing phosphorus from anaerobic digestion liquor and for the control release of phosphorus from a fertiliser.

Abstract: A food transport system and method are provided for transporting a packaged food item from one floor of a restaurant, such as a cooking or preparation floor, to another floor of the restaurant, such as a serving or dining floor. The food transport system includes a conveyor that transports a food-item supporting carrier along a closed-loop pathway. The carrier includes a rack with a plurality of spaced-apart food-item support members. On an upward portion of the pathway, the carrier passes a pick-up station having a pick-up rack with a plurality of spaced-apart food-item support members, the carrier support members passing between the pick-up support members to pick up the food item. On a downward portion of the pathway, the carrier rack passes through a drop-off rack in a similar manner, thus depositing the food item on the drop-off rack.

Abstract: A process for preparing hydroxylapatite from a calcium carbonate-containing algae comprising the steps of: (a) converting at least some of the calcium carbonate in the algae to calcium oxide without changing the porosity of the algae; and (b) reacting the so-formed material of step (a) with phosphate ions in water.
