    Abstract: An assembly of cooperatively hinged nested toilet seats of sizes downwardly graduated from smaller to larger, from a smallest top seat to a largest bottom first seat. Each of the relatively smaller seats nests within a declining inner seat contour of a relatively larger seat below it. An extension of the declining inner seat contour of each seat defines a downward seat flange, which is configured to extend within the rim of the toilet bowl when the seat is lowered. Each successively smaller seat has a downward seat flange which is configured, when the seat is lowered, to nest within and engage the inner perimeter of the seat opening defined by the downward seat flange of the seat below it. The cross-sectional profile of each of the nested toilet seats comprises the downward seat flange, which transitions into the declining inner seat contour, which transitions into a middle seat contour, which in turn transitions into an outer seat contour.

    Abstract: In a gas turbine including a nozzle retaining ring having a first annular axially sealing surface and a shroud segment having an axial registering second surface. To minimize or prevent leakage flow between the retaining ring and shroud segments, a generally U-shaped seal having reversely folded U-shaped marginal portions is received in a cavity formed in the second surface. At operating conditions, the marginal portions seal against the base of the cavity and the first surface of the retaining ring to prevent leakage flow past the retaining ring/shroud segment interface. To install the seal, the seal body is first compressed and maintained in a compressed state by applying one or more wraps about the seal body and an epoxy is used to secure the seal when compressed in the cavity. At operating temperatures, the retention means releases the seal to engage marginal portions against opposite sealing surfaces of the shroud segments and retaining ring.

    Abstract: A brush seal assembly is radially and axially repositionable relative to stationary and rotating components. Shim packs whose thickness can be reduced by peeling adhesively attached foil layers from the shim packs are used to provide both axial and radial repositioning. In another form, a plurality of set screws may be threaded into a mounting member for the brush seal assembly to controllably space the brush seal from the rotating component. In a further form, an eccentric cam is rotated to reposition the brush seal assembly radially inwardly or outwardly with shim packs being used to reposition the brush seal in an axial direction.
