  • Patent number: 3997171
Abstract: A golf club is provided with a spring flange or wing attached to the bottom of the head in such a manner that it has flexibility both lengthwise and crosswise of the head. This spring wing converts the club into an all purpose wedge which is particularly useful in pitching and in sand. The wing is preferably slotted inwardly from its trailing edge to give it additional flexibility on striking the sand or turf.
