  • Patent number: 5871004
Abstract: A bowstring retention and release mechanism includes a housing or body with a head rotatable 360.degree. therein and a lower forward projection extending out of the head providing an upward bowstring-engaging surface upon which the bowstring can rest and which, in combination with a downwardly-extending segment of a lever arm, which also extends forwardly outside of the head and which is pivoted within the head, provides for retention and release of the bowstring. The lever arm is biased upwardly for release of the bowstring but is maintained in downward bow-string-retention position by a rearwardly-extending protuberance which cooperates with an activator which is slidably mounted within the head and which is forwardly biased so as to cam the protuberance up an upward incline to a forward step on the activator, thereby preventing the lever arm from upward movement into bowstring-release position.

  • Patent number: 5187325
Abstract: There is described a cylindrical bullet or projectile having imbedded coaxially in lead or like bullet metal, a internal expansion control insert of copper or like bullet-jacketing metal. The insert has a cylindrical outer surface having a common cylindrical interface with the outer portion of the bullet. The inner surface of the insert has a star-shaped configuration constituted by lead-filled, axially-disposed, V-shaped channels the apices of which are adjacent the outer surface of the insert and the sides of which flare out symmetrically about radii to an intercept with the hollow core of the bullet which extends from a position at or near the base of the bullet as a cylindrical surface to a position at or near the nose of the bullet whereupon it extends on an inverted, frusto-conical surface to the nose-end of the bullet.

  • Patent number: 4981128
Abstract: A bowstring release device has a female part adapted to be fastened to the wrist of an archer and a male part adapted to be fastened to the bowstring. The male part is adapted to be received by the female part and held therein by a keeper until it is released by actuating a triggered release mechanism. The female part also has bowstring-receiving slots so that it can be used with a bow that does not have a male member attached to the bowstring. The female part has a universal joint interposed between it and the device used to fasten it to the wrist of the archer.

  • Patent number: 4539968
Abstract: There is disclosed an archery release mechanism for releasing the bowstring of a free-standing bow in which a latch mechanism for latching onto the bowstring has a wrist band for attaching it to the wrist of the archer. The latch mechanism has a trigger adapted to engage the latch mechanism and hold it in latching position when the trigger is fully retracted so that the bowstring is released when the trigger is released. The latch mechanism is constructed also so that the latching mechanism is held in latch position when the trigger is not retracted so that the bowstring can be released by a pull of the trigger.

  • Patent number: 4509497
Abstract: The disclosure concerns a release mechanism for drawing and releasing the bowstring of free-standing bows in which a triggered-latch mechanism is affixed to sheet of resilient, non-stretchable material shaped to overlie the palm of the archer's hand and to be strapped around his wrist. A thumbhold is provided in the sheet so that the triggered-latch mechanism can be drawn up into the crotch between the forefinger and the thumb and the trigger is positioned in the latch mechanism in position to be easily pulled by the forefinger when the triggered-latch mechanism is so positioned. The triggered-latch mechanism has a trigger and a rotary latch having a latching arm and a cocking arm and complementary detents on the trigger and the latch operative in the cocked position to prevent rotation of the latch, and in the release to permit rotation of the latch.
