    Abstract: The article of manufacture, in particular a gas turbine blade, can be exposed to a hot aggressive gas. The article has a base body, to which a respective thermal barrier coating is applied in at least one first surface region and in a second surface region. In the first surface region, the coating has a fine structure that is different from the coating in the second surface region. The method for applying a thermal barrier coating to a product includes electron beam sputtering and reactive gas flow sputtering processes.
