  • Patent number: 4679458
Abstract: A worm gear has a threaded spindle and a threaded nut, the thread on the spindle or the nut or on both having a profile such that the transition regions connecting the thread crown surface to the thread flanks are rounded, as is the crown surface itself. Further, the spindle thread and nut thread are intermeshed with axial and radial play such that radial forces exerted under torque loading are transmitted only by areas of the crown surface, which transmitted forces are supported by the respective areas of the opposing groove bottom. Smooth functioning is ensured even when the threaded spindle occupies a position of maximum inclination relative to the nut.

  • Patent number: 4621402
Abstract: The invention pertains to a process and a device for the assembly of universal joints. In order to reduce the defect of center misalignment of the joint parts with respect to each other which characterized the joints after assembly, the center misalignment resulting from different pressing forces on the bearings and from other manufacturing tolerances are measured according to the invention during assembly, whereupon appropriate corrective forces are generated to eliminate the misalignment of the centers.

  • Patent number: 4574448
Abstract: In a method for fixedly mounting a machine element such as a bearing on a smooth shaft, the material of the shaft is displaced by forcing a stamping tool into an outer surface of the shaft, in a direction at an angle to the axis of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4558502
Abstract: A method for the assembly of universal joints with radially pretensioned fork arms, consisting of the steps of inserting and positioning the joint cross in the joint fork, pressing in the bearing and fixing them by means of pressure units, one of which supports each fork arm and pretensioning each fork arm individually during the entire pressing-in and/or fixing phase by means of the tipping force resulting from the pressure prevailing between the support element and the pressing/peening tool, reduced by a partial force following in response to the amount of the pressing force.

  • Patent number: 4433932
Abstract: A fastening means for securing an annular first machine element against axial displacement on an annular second machine element, said second machine element having a shoulder against which the first machine element abuts and an annular groove spaced from said shoulder comprising a first ring member circumscribing the second machine element and having one axial end face confronting and abutting an axial end face of said first machine element and being formed to define an annular pocket, a second one-piece ring made of a deformable material which is initially sleeve-shape and is adapted to engage in the annular pocket and be deformed in a radial direction as a result of axially applied pressure during assembly into the annular pocket in such a way that a portion thereof engages in the annular groove in the second machine element to secure the two in place.
