Abstract: Method for determining an indication of complementarity between two entities, wherein a word database is compiled for each entity in which word clusters related to the entity are entered, wherein at least two areas are distinguished in the database for each entity, these being:—areas of activity of the entity; and—areas of capacity of the entity, wherein an algorithm is used to calculate a semantic similarity between the areas of activity and between the areas of capacity of the two entities; wherein the method produces a positive indication of complementarity when the first and second semantic similarity lie respectively above and below a threshold value.

Abstract: Method for forming subgroups within a group, wherein a database is available which quantifies a relation between persons from the group, wherein the method comprises the steps of: —forming a subgroup by selecting a set of persons from the group according to a predetermined algorithm in a manner such that the relation between persons in the set is quantified above a predetermined threshold value; —designating each person from the set of persons as persons assigned to subgroups; wherein the repetitive performance stops in one of the following situations: —all persons from the group have been assigned, after which the method further comprises of communicating the subgroups via a user interface; and —in the collection the relations are quantified below the predetermined threshold value, after which the method further comprises the following step of: —restarting the repetitive performing of the steps with a different predetermined algorithm.

Abstract: Interactive response systems (1) of call centers for giving users access to information comprise means (11, 31) for receiving activation signals via audio or video or audio/video calls from the users and means (12, 32) for transmitting menu signals to the users and means (13, 21, 33) for receiving selection signals from the users are provided with means (22, 34) for transmitting video signals to the users for providing video to the user. This video may have entertaining, explaining, supporting and/or commercial functions and makes the interactive response systems more-sided and user friendly. The users either use two different devices (4, 5) or use one device (6) for exchanging audio and for receiving video. The interactive response systems (1) further comprise means (14, 35) for receiving link signals that provide direct or indirect links from the interactive response systems (1) to the devices (5) or to video or audio/video calls with the devices (6).

Abstract: A communication system according to the current invention contains a context vault (104) and context community manager (105) for enriching a communication session between a first user (101) and second user (102) with context information. The context vault (104) maintains context information, e.g. location or agenda information, and/or context information locators in relation to users. The community context manager (105) maintains access rights in relation to the context information. During the communication session between the first user (101) and a second user (102), the communication server (103) retrieves context information in relation to the first user (101) from the context vault (104) and provides that context information or parts thereof to the second user (102) in accordance with the access rights kept in the community context manager (105), and vice versa.

Abstract: A passive filter arrangement and a method of providing such a filter is described. The frequency response of the filter arrangement is substantially the same as the frequency response of a first filter of an order having a first value, the frequency response of the first filter being representable by a first set of one or more poles and/or one or more zeros. Descriptions of a plurality of second filters are generated, each second filter having an order lower than the order of the first value, each second filter having a frequency response representable by a one or more poles and/or one or more zeros, the one or more poles and/or one or more zeros of each lower order filter being a subset of the first set. The lower order filters are cascaded.

Abstract: A low-pass filter arrangement associated a clamping circuit for limiting unwanted transient signals to be transmitted through the filter. Mainly the variations (dI/dt) of the current flowing through the filter are eliminated. The filter may form part of a splitter used in an ADSL system to separate low frequency POTS signals from high frequency ADSL signals simultaneously transmitted over a same copper twisted-pair transmission line. The filter comprises the series connection of a coil and the main path of a transistor of which the gate terminal is connected to the opposite end of the coil. In an ADSL system, a classical 7th order low-pass filter may advantageously be replaced by a 3rd order filter arrangement.

Abstract: In a full digital loop, telephone signals are digitised and in-band transferred, simultaneously with digital data. In case of emergency, e.g. a power supply interruption at the customer premises (ADSL_NT), a telephone life-line (S3, S2, S1, LT POTS TERMINATION) survives. This telephone life-line (S3, S2, S1, LT POTS TERMINATION) by-passes the digital modems (NT ADSL MODEM, LT ADSL MODEM) at the customer premises (ADSL_NT) and central office (ADSL_LT), and consists in the central office (ADSL_LT) of a telephone signal line termination (LT POTS TERMINATION) not comprising a ringing signal generator. Thus, only calls from the customer premises (ADSL_NT) to the central office (ADSL_LT) can be made in emergency situations.

Abstract: A current control interface arrangement includes a card circuit and a connector means. The connector means is adapted to generate, from the supply voltage terminals, an enable signal which is directly correlated to the moment of insertion or extraction of the load from the power supply. The card circuit includes an active device to be coupled between a power supply terminal and a load, an enable controlled switch for delivering the correct voltage to the control terminal of the active device for turning on, respectively turning off this device and a time constant means for controlling the rate at which the active device is further rendered conductive. A very simple power supply sequencing apparatus including the current control interface arrangement allows for coupling a plurality of supply voltages to a card in descending order starting from the highest supply voltage to the lowest supply voltage.

Abstract: The method is used in a system comprising a central station (CS) coupled to each of a plurality of terminal stations (TS1-TSn), wherein the central station (CS) is enabled to transmit downstream frames (DS) to the terminal stations to allow the terminal stations to transfer upstream frames (US) to the central station in time slots assigned thereto by way of of access grant information (TEA1-TEA4) included in the downstream frames. The downstream frame (DS) is a superframe having a matrix structure with rows and columns, and a first portion and a second portion of the matrix structure is an overhead portion (S, TCB) and an information portion (ATM) respectively. The overhead portion includes the access grant information and the size of the overhead portion is flexibly adaptable. The central station and the terminal stations are adapted to send and to interpret the superframe.
