  • Patent number: 8601695
Abstract: A shaving unit has at least one cutter (10, 12) for cutting hairs (11), a guide surface (4) extending closely adjacent the cutter or cutters (10, 12), and hair guides (3) projecting from the guide surface (4). The hair guides (3) bound channels (5) extending from an area spaced from the cutter or cutters (10, 12) towards the cutter or cutters (10, 12), and the hair guides each have a skin contact surface (6) facing away from the guide surface (4) and a surface (16) facing the guide surface (4), wherein the skin contact surface (6) is at least partially round and meets the surface (16) facing the guide surface (4) along a hair catching edge (7).

  • Patent number: 6868611
Abstract: A shaving apparatus with an external cutting member (4) and an internal cutting member which can be driven into rotation relative to the external member. The external cutting member (4) has an annular region (8) with hair-trapping apertures (5) and a skin support region (9) in a central area surrounded by the annular region. To improve the shaving performance, the skin support area is provided with ridges 10.

  • Patent number: 5983502
Abstract: The invention relates to a shaving apparatus comprising a housing (1) and at least one hair-cutting member (6). In order to prevent a user from irritating and injuring the skin during shaving, as far as possible, the shaving apparatus comprises means for warning the user when a given preset force is exceeded. The means can be, for example, one or more sensors which measure the force between the hair-cutting member and the housing during shaving. The sensor can be, for example, a Hall sensor (21), which is secured to the housing and which cooperates with an annular magnet (19), which is secured to a coupling pin (11) for driving the rotary hair-cutting member (6). The invention can also be used in wet-shavers.

  • Patent number: 4896421
Abstract: A shaving apparatus is provided having a housing provided with a holder for at least one shaving unit, which shaving unit comprises an external shaving member with hair entry apertures and an internal shaving member which is rotatable relative to the external shaving member, which internal shaving member is coupled to a drive mechanism by means of a drive shaft, which shaft comprises at least two portions which are axially movable to one another, the holder being provided with a mounting plate for the shaving unit, which holder and mounting plate are movable relative to each other in axially inward and outward directions. The external shaving member is secured to the mounting plate by means of at least one resilient element, so that the external shaving member with the mounting plate is also movable relative to the holder in both axial directions.
