  • Patent number: 9616191
Abstract: A valve assembly for a blower driven ventilator has a first conduit (1), an inlet (2) for receiving fluid from the blower (209) and a first orifice (4). A second conduit (5) is provided with an outlet (6) for forwarding fluid to a patient (203). A membrane (8) includes a front side (9) and a back side (10), wherein at least part of the membrane (8) is movable between a closed position and an open position. A switching circuit (12) enables the selective opening and closing of a fluid connection between the cavity (11) and the blower (209) via the fluid inlet (2), a fluid connection between the cavity (11) and the patient (203) via the fluid outlet (6), and a fluid connection between the cavity (11) and ambient air (13). A control system (17) controls the switching circuit (12) during a ventilation operation of the blower (209).

  • Patent number: 8656914
Abstract: A medical ventilator is coupled to a patient via a hose system to generate a respiratory flow according to a predetermined ventilation mode. The ventilator has a first flow sensor for generating a first sensor signal indicative of an inspiratory flow into the hose system distant from the patient. The hose system has a further flow sensor for generating a further sensor signal indicative of the respiratory flow proximal to the patient. The ventilator has an input for receiving the further sensor signal. The ventilator compares the further sensor signal with an expected sensor signal indicative of the respiratory flow proximal to the patient. The expected sensor signal is determined by a combination of the first sensor signal and the predetermined ventilation mode. The ventilator controls the ventilating in dependence on the comparison.

  • Patent number: 4928683
Abstract: Respirating apparatus comprising a pump, by means of which respiratory gas may be circulated in a closed line system in which the pressure may be varied in accordance with a certain respirating pattern, said line system being provided with connecting means for a patient and for supplying the various components of the respiratory gas and with means for withdrawing the carbon dioxide exhaled by the patient into the line system, said pump including at least one pump chamber which is separated by a pump membrane into a primary and a secondary portion, in which the secondary portion forms part of or is connected to the line system and the primary portion is connected to a supply of a driving fluid, of which the varying pressure may effect the pumping action of the membrane.
