  • Patent number: 11727897
Abstract: Methods, systems and apparatuses may provide for technology that detects an immediate flip request associated with a current frame of a video signal and generates a modified frame in response to the immediate flip request, wherein the modified frame includes a plurality of scanlines containing transition content associated with the current frame and the successive frame. The technology may also send the modified frame to the display.

  • Patent number: 11501733
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods of transferring bulk data, such as OLED compensation mask data, generated by a source device to a sink device using a high-bandwidth embedded DisplayPort (eDP) connection contemporaneous with an ENABLED Panel Self-Refresh (PSR) mode. Upon ENABLING the PSR mode, the source control circuitry causes the source transmitter circuitry, the sink receiver circuitry, and the eDP high-bandwidth communication link to remain active rather than inactive. The source control circuitry generates one or more data transport units (DTUs) having a header portion that contains data indicative of the presence of a bulk data payload and the non-display status of the bulk data payload carried by the DTUs.

  • Publication number: 20220335908
Abstract: Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device that includes a display panel that includes a segmented backlight and a display engine, where, for each segment in the segmented backlight, the display engine communicates to the display panel an identifier that indicates if a brightness value of the segment in a next frame in a video stream will change from a brightness value of the segment in a current frame in the video stream. The display panel can include a timing controller (TCON) and the TCON uses the identifier for each segment in the segmented backlight to determine if a brightness of a specific backlight segment for the next frame can be a same level as a brightness of the specific backlight segment for the current frame.

  • Publication number: 20220122553
Abstract: Particular embodiments described herein provide for an electronic device that includes a liquid crystal display, a backlight for the liquid crystal display, a timing controller (TCON), and a display engine located outside of the TCON, where the display engine asynchronously sends image data to the TCON and backlight control data to the backlight.

  • Publication number: 20210327395
Abstract: Methods and systems for dynamically adjusting the power consumption of an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel are disclosed. In embodiments, a histogram of a frame to be displayed is generated, and a weighted dimming curve is generated, with heavier weighting given to mid-tone intensity pixels. High and low intensity pixels are left only minimally adjusted. The curve is then capped and smoothed to prevent artifacts and to preserve image contrast. Each pixel in the frame is then dimmed according to the curve, and the resultant transformed frame is displayed on the OLED panel.

  • Publication number: 20210191878
Abstract: An apparatus to facilitate page translations is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a frame buffer to a plurality of pages of data, a plurality of display page tables to store virtual address to physical address translations to the pages of data in the frame buffer and a page table having a plurality of page table entries (PTEs), wherein each PTE maps to one of the plurality of display page tables.
