  • Patent number: 12219418
Abstract: An electronic device may establish a standby network having a service set identifier (SSID). Moreover, the electronic device may receive, from a controller, information specifying neighbors of the electronic device, where the neighbors are within wireless communication range of the electronic device and include a second electronic device. When the electronic device is unable to communicate with the controller, the electronic device may select the second electronic device from the neighbors, where the second electronic device implements a second instance of the standby network having the SSID. Then, the electronic device may provide a message to the second electronic device. Moreover, the electronic device may receive a response to the message from the second electronic device.

  • Patent number: 10721138
Abstract: An access category assigned to stations making probe requests, based on a station type determined. Responsive to a voice access category type determination, deep packet inspection on one or more network packets from a specific flow of the specific station to identify a specific voice application running on the specific station can be performed. A GSSID is assigned to the specific station based on the specific voice application identified, each GSSID from a plurality of GSSIDs having distinct QoS parameters for voice applications. The probe request is responded to with a probe response, wherein the probe response comprises the GSSID. Network packets can be transmitted for and network packets by the specific station comprising the GSSID utilizing the voice access category.

  • Patent number: 10362630
Abstract: Airtime efficiency is improved in virtual cell by optimizing multicast and/or broadcast transmissions in wireless networks with an optimal set of access points, as a subset of total access points involved in a traditional transmission. An optimal set comprising singleton access points and a minimum number of non-singleton access points covering the maximum number of stations with the fewest number of access points by including a non-singleton access point covering a highest number of stations not covered by the singleton access points are identified. The remaining access points in the plurality of access points that are not part of the optimal set, are configured to refrain from the inherent virtual cell rule of responding to multicast or broadcast on the Wi-Fi portion of the Wi-Fi data communication network.
