Publication number: 20230275806Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods relating to adaptive virtual services. In an example, a user specifies a device configuration for a platform device. As a result, a service provider installs selected virtual-network functions and defines network connections as specified by the device configuration. Management software may also be installed, thereby enabling the service provider to communicate with and remotely manage the platform device. The installed virtual-network functions are activated on the platform device once it is delivered to the user. In some instances, the user changes the device configuration. For example, the user may install new virtual-network functions, reconfigure or remove existing virtual-network functions, or change defined network connections. As a result, the service provider reconfigures the platform device accordingly. Thus, the user need not purchase new specialized hardware in order to change the available functions of the computer network.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2023Publication date: August 31, 2023Applicant: Level 3 Communications, LLCInventors: Adam Saenger, Matthew Holway, Len Brannen, Gene Clark, Anil Simlot, Zubin Ingah, Johan J. Publication number: 20230066667Abstract: An in-flight contact charging system includes a charging contact, a power receiver, and a recharging controller connected to the charging contact. The charging contact is mounted on a support. The power receiver is mounted on an aerial vehicle containing an electrical load. The power receiver connects to the electrical load. The recharging controller can detect contact between the charging contact and the power receiver; transmit electricity to the charging contact; detect a spike in battery impedance; and discontinue transmission of electricity to the charging contact. The system enables a drone to rapidly recharge its battery while in flight by making brief contact between the charging contact and the power receiver. This system keeps the drone airborne, does not waste energy, and is comparatively cheap to build and maintain.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2022Publication date: March 2, 2023Inventors: James Mitchell Coker, III, Matthew Gene Clark, Jackson Karl Harwell

Patent number: 9206811Abstract: A remanufactured pump includes a casing and a pumping mechanism positioned within the casing having a rotatable pump shaft and an impeller mounted upon the pump shaft and rotatable within a pumping chamber in the casing. A first insert is held fast within a first bore in the casing, and a second insert is held fast within a second bore in the casing, each via an interference fit. Sealing mechanisms are positioned within the first and second inserts to form a first seal about the pump shaft to prevent leakage of a working fluid from the pumping chamber, and a second seal about the pump shaft to prevent leakage of a lubricating fluid from a bearing chamber in the casing. Related methodology is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 2012Date of Patent: December 8, 2015Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Donald Gene Clark, Curtis John Graham, Jack Maclellan Nix, Caxton Darnell Martin, Jr.

Patent number: 7348484Abstract: The present invention provides method, apparatus, and system to assist in partially or fully reestablishing the fire rating of a barrier that has been compromised by the installation of an electrical box(es) in the barrier. The electrical box includes a faceplate having a fire retardant material, such as an intumescent material, coupled to the faceplate and/or coupled between the box and the faceplate. The fire retardant material enhances the fire resistance of the compromised area of the barrier. In one embodiment, the fire retardant material can be in the form of a gasket that can be used cooperatively with the faceplate and the electrical box. In another embodiment, the fire retardant material can be established on one or more surfaces of the faceplate by molding, spraying, dipping, coating or any other methods of application of the material to a surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2001Date of Patent: March 25, 2008Assignee: The RectorSeal CorporationInventors: Eva Ackerman, Randy Gene Clark

Publication number: 20080029958Abstract: A double-side game ticket or card with multiple windows on both sides of the ticket. Game symbols are printed on both sides of the ticket and are concealed by break-open windows until the tickets are purchased and played, at which time the windows are broken open to reveal the symbols. Two games may be provided on one ticket, with symbols for one game on each side of the ticket. The ticket may be constructed of three plies of material such as cardstock, with windows provided in the two outer plies and game symbols printed on both sides of the inner ply.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2007Publication date: February 7, 2008Applicant: Universal Manufacturing Co.Inventors: Lowell Gene Clark, Mona Jean Clark, Sharyn Waugh
