  • Patent number: 6766744
Abstract: The various embodiments provide an incendiary device utilizing a multiple hollow core-burner technique that facilitates producing large diameter cuts through steel targets. To facilitate this result, the various embodiments incorporate a multiple-core burning design with multiple orifices at the base for directing multiple jets of molten reaction product at the target. The various embodiments further incorporate an optional holding device as a means for locking the device onto a target. Devices in accordance with the invention having a base diameter of 2.312″ have been shown to be capable of producing an approximately 2″ diameter hole through ¼ inch thick steel plate using a 275 g thermite charge within a container three-quarters the size of a standard AN-M14 Thermite Grenade package.

  • Patent number: H227
Abstract: This invention relates to a smoke-producing composition containing a dye 1,4,- benzenedicarboxylic acid. The acid is useful for purging slag and solid clinker while lowering the steady state burning temperature of the composition. The coloring agent used by the composition does not degrade. The acid is an efficient coolant for the composition and takes advantage of sublimation reactions to produce the properties enumerated here.

  • Patent number: H233
Abstract: The present invention is an essentially non-toxic, smoke-producing, pyrotnic composition. The composition uses 1,4 benzenedicarboxylic acid which produces a superior visual screening smoke when vaporized by heat provided a reaction between suitable fuel and oxidizer. The composition additionally contains potassium chlorate and sugar. The composition burns at a low temperature without a visual flame and is suited for use in smoke grenades and smoke pots.
