In addition, since it is adsorbed only onto a specified part of the hair, stickiness or greasiness of the hair can be prevented. The composition also prevents occurrence of split hairs, and even repair the split hairs. These effects are not lost by repeated ordinary shampooings.

This amine derivative has excellent effects of smoothing or removing wrinkles and improving keratinization.

Abstract: The invention relates to UV absorbers and cosmetic compositions containing a naphthalenemethylenemalonic diester represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## wherein NAP represents a naphthalene group which may optionally have a substituent, and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each independently represent a hydrocarbon group, an alkoxyalkyl group, or an alkoxyalkylenoxyalkyl group. The UV absorbers and the cosmetic compositions of the invention exhibit excellent ultraviolet ray absorbing action, and are stable to light.

Abstract: A 4,4-Dimethyl-1-phenylpentane-1,3-dione derivatives represented by the following formula (1): ##STR1## wherein all symbols are defined in the disclosure, is disclosed. An ultraviolet ray absorbent and a cosmetic comprising the derivative are also disclosed. The derivative of the present invention have excellent ultraviolet ray absorbing performance and superior light stability, and the ultraviolet ray absorbent and cosmetic comprising the derivative have excellent effect to prevent sunburn.

An UV-ray absorber and cosmetic composition comprising the aroyl ketone derivative of formula (I) are also disclosed. Aroyl ketone derivative (I) of the present invention can provide an excellent UV-ray absorbing effect and has outstanding stability against light, and the UV-ray absorber or cosmetic composition containing the aroyl ketone derivative (I) can exhibit an excellent sunscreening effect.
