  • Patent number: 5702156
Abstract: A reclining device for a seat, having an upper arm fixed to a seat back of the seat, wherein a lock gear member may be engaged with or disengaged from a gear section formed in the upper arm through rotational action of a cam member by vertical rotation of an operation lever. The reclining device is arranged such that the cam member has a center of rotation dislocated from that of the operation lever, whereby the cam member may be rotated at a large angle even by a small rotation of the operation lever. This permits the cam member to be increased in the area for contact with the lock gear member, thus offering a stable locking and unlocking action of the reclining device for reclining adjustment of the seat back.

  • Patent number: 5664837
Abstract: A reclining device for a vehicle seat, which has base arm and an upper arm rotatably connected via a shaft to the base arm, with an arcuate inwardly toothed portion formed in the upper arm. A lock gear member having an outwardly toothed portion is movably supported by two guide elements in a diametrical direction of a circle along which the arcuate inwardly toothed portion is formed, to thereby insure a full meshed engagement between the outwardly and inwardly toothed portions. The lock gear member is operatively connected via a cam plate and interlocking elements to an operation lever. The interlocking elements include enagement pin and elongated guide hole which are coacted by rotation of the operation lever so as to guide the lock gear member in such diametrical direction. Additionally, a non-circular engagement may be arranged between the shaft and upper arm to prevent rotation of the shaft, and a connecting tubular member may be connected coaxially to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5664836
Abstract: A reclining device for a vehicle seat, which has a base arm and an upper arm rotatably connected via a shaft to the base arm, with an arcuate inwardly toothed portion formed in the upper arm. A lock gear member is rotatably supported on a pin fixed to the base arm, having an outwardly toothed portion to be meshed with the arcuate inwardly toothed portion of upper arm. The lock gear member is operatively connected via a cam plate and interlocking elements to an operation lever. Thus, motion of the lock gear member is confined to rotation about the pin, without wobbling therein, and further the lock gear member is moved via those cam plate and interlocking elements by handling the operation lever so as to positively bring the outwardly toothed portion to and out of meshed engagement with the inwardly toothed portion.

  • Patent number: 5058953
Abstract: A seat back of an automotive seat of the type having upper and lower seat-back sections, in which the upper seat-back section is formed independently of the lower one and further inclinable relative thereto. The connection between the upper and lower seat-back sections is designed so close as to avoid undesired part such as rift or gap therebetween. Further, a hole in that connection area is prevented from being viewed externally by an auxiliary covering member, and a "C"-shaped incision is formed at that connection area of padding, so that its lid may be taken out from or inserted back into its hole, for opening or closing the hole. With this structure, an outer aesthetic appearance of the seat is far improved.

  • Patent number: 4973017
Abstract: A locking mechanism for a tray of an automotive seat, in which the seat is formed with a recess and the tray is rotatably secured in the recess, includes a lock lever secured rotatably on the tray and a lock rod provided in the recess in a manner projectable or retractable therefrom or thereinto. Simply rotating the lock lever releases the tray from the locked state, and simply pressing the tray back into the recess or opening causes the lock rod to lock the tray into a non-use position.

  • Patent number: 4509796
Abstract: An improved pan cushioning frame for a vehicle seat is disclosed. The frame comprises separately-formed two side frames and a center panel. The side frames are made of steel plate which is thicker than that for the center panel. The three parts are connected together to form the pan cushioning frame. According to the invention, the frame thickness and form can be selected depending on load to be applied thereto, and it requires no additional reinforcing members. Further, the frame will not be over-strong since too thick plate is not used.
