  • Patent number: 5976266
Abstract: A mop is provided with a handle, mop strings and a plunger. The plunger is located between the handle and the mop strings. A sleeve having a top end and an open bottom end is provided, with the sleeve being perforated near the bottom end. The sleeve is tapered so that the bottom end is larger than the top end. The plunger and the mop strings are located inside of the sleeve with the plunger positioned near the top end of the sleeve and the mop strings depending from the plunger. The bottom end of the sleeve is located in a liquid so that the liquid enters a bottom portion of the sleeve through the perforations. The handle is moved down so as to compress the mop strings with the plunger, with the mop strings being immersed in the liquid, forcing dirt from the mop strings out of the sleeve perforations. The handle is moved up so as to raise the plunger inside of the sleeve and decompress the mop strings, thereby allowing the mop strings to absorb liquid from outside of the sleeve through the perforations.

  • Patent number: 5826421
Abstract: A mop head has a fitting, a coupler, and string. The fitting couples to the end of a handle. The coupler attaches the string to the fitting. The string is arranged in multiple loops that depend from the fitting. The string itself is made of a foam core and a protective filament covering. The foam is of the open cell type for absorbency and wringability. The filament is braided or knitted so as to completely encircle the core and to provide openings therethrough in order to allow access to the core. The covering protects the core from tearing and other mechanical damage, while maintaining the porosity of the overall string.

  • Patent number: 5217515
Abstract: Method and product made for preventing loose tinkles in a wire mesh product. Opposite ends of a sock of knitted wire mesh are subjected to a single-ply bonding operation such as electric resistance welding, thereby bonding the tinkles to the mesh. The sock is then compressed to produce a foraminous product suitable for use as a slag filter in automotive airbag assemblies.
