  • Patent number: 5715082
Abstract: A microscope attached slide dotting device includes a clamping ring arranged for selective mounting onto a microscope barrel having an objective lens. The clamping ring includes cooperative first and second semi-cylindrical members arranged for clamping about the microscope barrel. The second semi-cylindrical member employs a mounting boss provided with opposed dovetail projections slidably and complementarily received within a slide plate. The slide plate includes opposed first plate flanges to receive the dovetail projections projecting from a first side of the slide plate, with a second side of the slide plate projecting at a dovetail boss for complementary and slidable reception within a housing recess of an associated marker housing. The marker housing includes a marker assembly extending through the marker housing. A plurality of clamping members permits orthogonal and slidable relationship of the marker housing relative to the clamping ring via slide plate.

  • Patent number: 5191899
Abstract: A device for simultaneous collection of cells from the endocervical canal and the cervical face of the uterus and methods of use. The device is an elongated handle having one cell-collecting member projecting from the handle at an axis perpendicular to the axis of the handle for contacting with the cervical face of the uterus, and one cell-collecting member projecting from the handle along the same axis as the handle for contacting with the endocervical canal of the uterus. Along each member project sets of bristles which, because they are perpendicularly positioned on each member, provide mild abrasive action to the endocervical canal and the cervical face when the device is inserted into the uterus and rotated, so that cells from both regions are collected onto the bristles.

  • Patent number: 4807979
Abstract: A marking assembly is disclosed for making reference marks on a microscope slide. The marking assembly includes a mounting ring having two clamping flats and an extensible clampbar for compressive attachment to a microscope lens objective. Replaceable ink cartridge having a marking nib mounted near its distal end is inserted in a plunger mechanism that may be selectively activated to cause the nib to mark the slide. The plunger mechanism is pivotably mounted to the mounting ring by two orthogonally oriented pivot pins which allow the plunger mechanism and nib to be selectively positioned about both vertical and horizontal axes so that the reference mark can be selectively positioned on the microscope slide. A plurality of calibration screws and springs are provided to position and lock the plunger mechanism in place when the desired vertical and horizontal positions have been selected. The plunger mechanism may be manipulated to vary the size of the reference mark.

  • Patent number: 4690521
Abstract: A device and method are disclosed for making reference marks on a microscope slide. The device includes a member for mounting the device to a microscope. A marking nib is provided to selectively place a reference mark on the slide at a preselected position relative to an object of interest on the slide. A mechanism is further provided for maintaining the same preselected position relative to all objects of interest marked on a slide including a member for moving the nib in at least two generally orthogonally aligned directions within a horizontal plane to permit adjustment and calibration of the preselected position relative to the objects of interest. A plunger member activates the nib and selectively reference marks the slide. Finally, the device includes a mechanism for selectively varying the size of the mark and for automatically maintaining the size once selected.

  • Patent number: 4450595
Abstract: A liquid waste disposal system for use with a water closet or the like communicating through a trap to a sewer line comprising a plate mounted within the water closet bowl, a duct extending from said plate, around the trap and to the sewer line, and means for orienting said plate such that the shape and orientation of the plate causes a liquid falling onto the plate to flow into the duct and directly to the sewer line.
