  • Publication number: 20140034745
Abstract: A vortex spray generating system that comprises a discharge channel and at least one inlet channel. The discharge channel and the at least one inlet channel are disposed with respect to one another such that the at least one inlet channel is capable of providing a tangential feed of fluid into the discharge channel sufficient to generate a vortex and spray pattern. A method of generating a vortex in a pressurized fluid so as to deliver the pressurized fluid as a spray. The method comprises providing a vortex spray generating apparatus comprising a discharge channel and at least one inlet channel, and introducing a tangential feed of fluid through the at least one inlet channel into the discharge channel sufficient to generate a vortex and spray pattern. The at least one inlet channel is disposed such that it is perpendicular to the discharge channel or angled with respect to the discharge channel.

  • Publication number: 20090014679
Abstract: A plastic aerosol valve with a plastic valve stem, plastic housing, plastic mounting cup, and plastic locking ring. The plastic valve is assembled into the mounting cup. The plastic housing is assembled into the plastic mounting cup by snap fittings. The plastic mounting cup has a peripheral portion that snap fits up into the plastic locking ring. The plastic locking ring has frangibly-connected upper and lower portions. The lower portion snap fits with the top of a plastic product bottle to mount the aerosol valve assembly on the bottle. The upper ring portion thereafter is telescoped downwardly over the lower ring portion to lock and retain the aerosol valve assembly on the pressurized bottle. The plastic mounting cup can be molded separately, or integrally with the plastic locking ring. A check valve may be contained in the valve stem.

  • Patent number: 7407066
Abstract: Apparatus comprising a housing (1) defining a portion (2) for receiving in use a dose-dispensing container (20), the housing containing a dose counter comprising an annular counter member (40) and a driving member (41), the driving member comprising a planar ring portion (50) and first and second sets of flexible teeth (51, 52) depending from opposite sides of the planar ring portion, the first set of dependant fexible teeth (51) engaging a first series of teeth (47) formed on the annular counter member, wherein on movement of the received dose-dispensing container towards the driving member the first and second sets of dependant flexible teeth are caused to flex towards the plane of the ring portion to thereby incrementally rotate the annular counter member in a first direction relative to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20070129665
Abstract: A method and device are disclosed for delivering a drug aerosol to the turbinate region (4, 6, 8) of the nasal passage. The drug is delivered to the nostril in a metered volume of gas such that it reaches the turbinates, and flow into the nostril is then prevented for sufficient time to allow the particles to settle. The particles have an aerodynamic diameter below about 12.

  • Patent number: 7195134
Abstract: Apparatus comprising a housing (1) defining a (2) portion for receiving in use a dose-dispensing container (20), the housing containing a dose counter comprising at least one annular counter member (141, 142), a helix-like coil (143) and transmission means (144) for operatively connecting the helix-like coil and the at least one annular counter member, wherein movement of the received dose-dispensing container acts to compress the helix-like coil to thereby rotate the transmission means and the at least one annular counter member.

  • Patent number: 6338338
Abstract: An inhalation apparatus for dispensing a product that includes a housing and an end cap axially slidable relative to the housing. The housing has a portion adapted to receive a pressurized dispensing container and connected to a mouthpiece, and duct means communicating with the container-receiving portion for conveyance of product toward the mouthpiece. The end cap has a socket for engaging the pressurized dispensing container. The end cap has a collar with an inwardly directed rim. The housing includes an outwardly directed flange which fits within the rim. The end cap is movable between a first position in which the rim and flange have an axial overlap and there is no or a minimal flow of air through the housing, and a second position in which there is a maximum flow of air, the air flow being created by a user applying suction to the mouthpiece.
