  • Patent number: 6975713
Abstract: Providing multiple line functionality using alternative network telephony is disclosed. A local telephone installation comprises a first and second telephone equipment (associated with a first and second local node, respectively), and local telephone wiring connected to the first and second local nodes. The local telephone installation is associated for purposes of the public switched telephone network (PSTN) with a single telephone line. A request from a calling party to establish a connection with the local telephone installation is received at a third local node. It is determined whether the calling party desires to establish a connection to (1) a first telephone extension or (2) a second telephone extension associated with the first or the second local node, respectively. A connection is established from the third local node to the desired extension over the local telephone wiring in a manner that does not affect the other extension.

  • Patent number: 6975717
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for selective processing of calls using alternative network telephony. Called party data is received indicating a destination to which a calling party using a local telephone equipment desires to place a call. It is determined transparently to the calling party whether the called party data satisfies a first criteria for completing calls via alternative network telephony. The call is completed using alternative network telephony if it is determined that the called party data satisfies the first criteria. The call is completed via the public switched telephone network (PSTN) if it is determined that the called party data does not satisfy the first criteria.

  • Publication number: 20050259594
Abstract: Method and systems for transferring data from a sending device to a receiving device. The method starts with the preparation of a description of the structure of the data which is provided to the sending device and the receiving device. A reference model of the data structure is created on each of the sending and receiving devices, during run time, using the description of the data. As requested, instances of the reference model are created with the data on the sending device. The data in the instance is serialized by extracting the data and transferred from the sending device to the receiving device. The receiving device creates an instance of the data based on the reference model.

  • Publication number: 20050121184
Abstract: A method of creating a flat-round tube-to-header joint in a CuproBraze heat exchanger wherein the flat-round tube-to-header joint is disposed between a tube and a header having a generally circular opening having a first predetermined diameter formed on a first side thereof for receiving one end of a tube, and provides at least one generally circular end having a second predetermined diameter on the tube to fit into the generally circular opening of in the header. The method further provides a predetermined temper on at least one generally circular end which is at least sufficient to enable cold working of at least one generally circular end to prevent premature failures of the flat-round tube-to-header joint. The flat-round tube-to-header joint is formed by inserting one end of the tube into the first side of the header and forming the flat-round tube-to-header joint between one end of the tube and the header.

  • Publication number: 20050082050
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of increasing thermal efficiency around a plurality of tubes in a heat exchanger. The method comprises the steps of providing a plurality of tubes having a predetermined end configuration and a header having a number of openings corresponding to the plurality of tube. The openings are disposed in an end-to-end array wherein the predetermined end configurations touch. Finally the method secures an end of each of the plurality of tubes into a corresponding one of each of the openings in the header.

  • Publication number: 20040068870
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of at least one of increasing airflow around a plurality of tubes in a heat exchanger, and increasing the web in a header around such plurality of tubes, wherein the method includes the steps of providing a predetermined plurality of tubes having a predetermined end configuration, and a header having a predetermined number of openings. The predetermined number of openings are configured in a predetermined staggered array corresponding to the predetermined plurality of tubes, disposed in a heat exchanger. Finally, the method secures an end of each predetermined plurality of tubes into the predetermined number of openings in said header.

  • Publication number: 20040064946
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of reducing weight when securing a predetermined plurality of tubes into a non-metallic header, wherein the method includes the steps of providing a predetermined plurality of tubes having a predetermined end configuration, and a non-metallic header having a predetermined number of openings corresponding to the predetermined plurality of tubes. The predetermined plurality of openings, disposed in the non-metallic header in a predetermined array, have a predetermined configuration substantially identical to the predetermined end configuration of the predetermined plurality of tubes. Finally the method includes the step of securing an end of each of the predetermined plurality of tubes into a respective predetermined plurality of openings in the non-metallic header.

  • Publication number: 20030195884
Abstract: A method and system for single-action personalized recommendation and display of content via the Internet. The recommendation is given by a server system and received by a client system. The content itself has been previously recommended to the server system by the users of the client system. Client system recommendations to the server system are also invoked with a single-action. Recommended content is referred to by a URL. Users can rate content to the server system using a single-action. The server system performs recommendation calculations using user-specific information such as user preferences, demographic data, content rating history, and content-specific information. The content rating history of other users may also influence these calculations. Client systems display recommended content directly to the user in response to only a single-action.

Abstract: A control instrument for a system for generating acoustic output which includes a processor for receiving user input signals and control the acoustic output in response to the user input signals. The control instrument includes an instrument body, and at least one sensor element carried by the instrument body. The sensor element generates user input signals upon tactile actuation of the sensor element by a user. The user input signals indicate the location of contact and amount of force applied to the sensor element by the user. A music synthesis system and a sound processing system each including the control instrument are also provided.

  • Patent number: 5727903
Abstract: A process and apparatus for purification and compression of raw landfill gas stream in a landfill to produce vehicle grade fuel. After the landfill gas stream is extracted and collected, all solids and significant moisture are removed in a pretreatment system prior to compression of the gas stream. The gas stream is then compressed to enhance the function of a membrane purification system. Additional moisture and compressor oil are removed. The gas stream is then heated to maintain any remaining moisture in vapor form. Volatile organic compounds and the balance of the compressor oil are removed from the gas stream by passing the gas stream across an activated carbon guard bed system. The resultant gas stream is fed to a multi-stage membrane system which separates the methane from the other constituents of the landfill gas stream including any remaining moisture.
