  • Publication number: 20210399362
Abstract: There is described a battery module comprising: a cell enclosure for housing a plurality of battery cells; and a cooling assembly. The cooling assembly comprises a cooling channel extending from an aperture in a first side of the battery module to an aperture in a second side of the battery module. The cooling channel is positioned such that heat generated within the cell enclosure may be transferred to a cooling 5 fluid flowing, via the cooling channel, from the first side of the battery module to the second side of the battery module. There is also described a battery module stack comprising multiple such battery modules. The battery modules are arranged in a stacked formation such that the cooling channel of at least one battery module is aligned with the cooling channel of at least one adjacent battery module.

  • Publication number: 20170288186
Abstract: A thermal runaway containment apparatus for a battery includes an enclosure base configured to receive a battery therein, an enclosure lid, and a lid constraining structure. The enclosure base has an interconnected floor and side walls, with a top rim defining an open top. The enclosure lid is seatable on the top rim in a seated position that closes the enclosure base. The lid constraining structure is positioned above the lid such that vertical movement of the lid is constrained between the seated position and a maximum partially separated position. When the lid is in the maximum partially separated position, a tortuous flow path into the base is defined; the tortuous flow path allows for venting of pressurized gases out of the enclosure base while impeding inflow of gases at a lower pressure than the pressurized gases into the enclosure base.

  • Publication number: 20080116623
Abstract: A spring holder apparatus to hold one or more springs is constructed of a first base having a first floor, a first flange extending from at least a portion of the first floor, a first wall and a first flexible locking element; and a second base having a second floor, a second flange extending from at least a portion of the second floor, a second wall and a second flexible locking element. The flanges are adapted to axially support the spring and the walls are adapted to radially support the spring. The walls are further adapted to interpose with one another so as to allow them to move past each other as the bases are urged toward each other during compression of the spring. The flexible locking elements are adapted to slidingly engage each other so as to secure the bases to each other while allowing the bases to move toward each other during compression of the spring.
