Abstract: Handling and controlling apparatus often use forks or similar devices to support loads. Certain loads, for example packs of flexible sheets, need support over a significant proportion of their lower surface. The resulting forks are then of sufficient size to cause difficulty in handling, requiring excessive clearances around the load. If, however, the fork units are capable of articulation and suitably controlled, then the clearances required may be substantially reduced. This specification describes such an articulated member.
