Abstract: Methods and devices for tissue fixation. A cortical button with a rib between two slotted openings. The rib increases the cortical button structural rigidity without increasing palpability. An adjustable loop construct with two discrete locking passages that provides manageable loop reduction and improved tissue coupling. The adjustable loop construct may be coupled to tissue via a passing construct. An assembly with a reduction bar, a button and an adjustable loop construct, the assembly provided assembled in a first configuration that disassembles to guide steps of tissue fixation. • Patent number: 11903593
Abstract: An anchor delivery system includes both a straight and curved drill guide along with a flexible drill, a flexible obturator and a flexible anchor inserter. The curved drill guide has a distal tip with approximately a 15° bend from the primary axis of the drill guide. Both the drill and the obturator have a reduced diameter section to improve flexibility during passage through the curved drill guide. Additionally, a surface of the inserter shaft has a laser cut pattern which permits flexing of the inserter around the inner diameter of the curved drill guide.

  • Publication number: 20230109413
Abstract: Depth penetration limiters for use with meniscal repair devices which have a built-in, self-stopper feature to prevent the limiter from disengaging from the device housing. The self-stopper feature is a cantilevered flexure on a bottom surface of the limiter that deflects as it is moved through the housing. As the flexure passes the edge of a recess in the housing, the flexure returns to its original shape, trapping the flexure within the recess and preventing further distal movement of the limiter/depth tube. A connection feature on the limiter provides increased pull-off resistance of the depth tube from the limiter.

  • Publication number: 20220409192
Abstract: A harvesting assembly for harvesting a tissue graft from surrounding tissue is disclosed including a guide. The guide includes a means for fixedly engaging with an anterior surface of the tendon. The guide also includes a means of guiding a cutting blade along a preferred trajectory into and along a length of the tendon. The guide also includes a means of guiding a truncating blade along a preferred trajectory across a width of tendon. The cutting blade may include two parallel blades for forming lateral sides of the tendon graft simultaneously. Each of the two parallel blades may define a leading edge that extends along at least a 90 degree arc that is equidistant from a stop on the cutting blade. The stop in combination with the guide may limit a cut depth into the tendon for a range of cutting blade handle elevation angles.

  • Publication number: 20220161306
Abstract: A single-patient-use disposable tool comprises a molded, single-piece body with a curved upper surface having a predetermined bend radius for bending a needle slidably disposed in a sheath. A distal end of the curved surface has a slot for insertion of a tip of a needle, while the proximal end of the curved surface has a guide member for slidably receiving the sheath. Two finger loops or similar ergonomic features allow the user to rotate the bending tool relative to the sheath to bend the needle about the predetermined bend radius. After completing the bend, the tool is removed from the needle and disposed of.

  • Publication number: 20210346148
Abstract: An adjustable fixation system for coupling a tissue or graft to bone is disclosed including a suture construct including a first limb, a second limb and a body therebetween. The body is continuously braided with the first and second limbs and has a longitudinal passage therethrough. The first and second limbs define a braided portion including a braided core. The suture construct is configured to form at least one adjustable loop formed by passing the first limb between braids of the suture construct, along the longitudinal passage and back out between braids of the adjustable suture construct. Tension on at least one of the first or second limbs reduces a diameter of the longitudinal passage around a length of the first limb and thereby the braided core disposed along the body longitudinal passage and knotlessly locks the adjustable loop.

  • Patent number: 10966706
Abstract: A suture anchor assembly includes a suture anchor and a suture anchor inserter. The anchor includes a flexible distal tip and a rigid proximal anchor body. The distal tip includes a transverse suture eyelet and a cavity formed in a proximal end of the tip. The anchor body includes a lumen extending between proximal and distal ends of the body. The anchor inserter includes a tubular outer shaft and an inner inserter slidably received therein. The anchor assembly is actuatable to move the anchor tip and inner shaft proximally while the outer shaft and anchor body remain in place, urging the proximal end of the anchor tip against the distal end of the anchor body. The proximal end of the tip is deformable to accommodate at least a portion of the distal end of the anchor body within the anchor tip cavity.

  • Patent number: 10888312
Abstract: A suture securing assembly comprises a two-bodied anchor and an associated delivery system which enhances fixation of a micro anchor in a bone hole or tunnel, as well as improving suture lock within bone. Initially, the two bodies are separated by a length of an inner shaft of the delivery system. The proximal body is fixed on the inner shaft of the delivery system and cannot move relative to the handle until after insertion into the bone, when the delivery system is disengaged from the anchor. The distal body further includes expansion wings and/or other features for increasing suture lock within the bone hole.

  • Patent number: 10765420
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns a surgical instrument for manipulating suture. In particular, the present disclosure relates to an instrument for passing suture through tissue. There is described a surgical instrument having a shaft and a handle connected to the proximal end of the shaft. The shaft is formed from a tubular member having a proximal end and a distal end, with a lumen extending between the proximal and distal ends, and a tip distal to the tubular member. The shaft also includes a distal portion having an opening in a sidewall, proximal to the tip. The opening is in communication with the lumen through a side channel. The instrument further includes a suture snare, the snare being slidably receivable within the lumen and side channel, and movable between extended and retracted positions for capturing suture.

  • Patent number: 10631851
Abstract: The present disclosure concerns a suture anchor including a distal body and a proximal body. The distal body defines a bounded transverse eyelet therethrough and the proximal body defines an unbounded transverse eyelet therethrough at a distal end thereof the unbounded transverse eyelet being unbounded distally. The proximal body is cannulated for receiving a proximal portion of the distal body through the cannula, whereby the eyelets are configured for alignment with one another to as to enable receiving a suture therethrough. Once the suture is received, the distal body and proximal body may be rotated relative to one another along a longitudinal axis of the suture anchor such that the eyelets are rotated out of phase with one another causing the suture to wrap around the proximal portion of the distal body and pinching the suture between an outer surface of the distal body and an inner surface of the proximal body. This has the advantage of causing the distal end of the proximal body to expand.
