    Abstract: There is disclosed a dip coating method for fabricating a photosensitive member employing a substrate which defines a top non-imaging portion, a middle imaging portion, and a bottom non-imaging portion, wherein the method comprises: (a) immersing the bottom non-imaging portion, the middle imaging portion, and optionally a part of the top non-imaging portion of the substrate in a coating solution; (b) raising the middle imaging portion out of the coating solution; and (c) raising the bottom non-imaging portion out of the coating solution at a take-up speed which is decreasing from the take-up speed of the substrate at the junction between the middle imaging portion and the bottom non-imaging portion, thereby reducing the size of any bead on the bottom non-imaging portion.

    Abstract: An electrostatographic imaging member assembly including a hollow electrostatographic imaging drum having a first end and a second end, at least one coating on the drum extending to at least the first end of the drum, the coating having an outer electrostatographic imaging surface and a first drum supporting end cap mounted on the first end of the drum, the first drum supporting end cap including a disk shaped member having an annular skirt encircling an exterior surface of the first end of the cylindrical substrate, the annular skirt having an imaginary axis coextensive with an imaginary axis of the drum. This electrostatographic imaging member assembly may be fabricated by sliding the skirt of the end cap over the end of the drum with or without presoftening of the coating. The electrostatographic imaging member assembly may be utilized in electrostatographic imaging apparatus in which the end caps support electrostatographic imaging apparatus subassembly components.

These imaging members may be employed in an electrophotographic imaging process utilizing monochromatic activating radiation having a wavelength between a lower limit of 600 about and an upper limit of about 800 nm to form an electrostatic latent image on the imaging member.

The method of constructing a flexible imaging sheet comprises the steps overlapping and forming. In the step of overlapping, a first marginal end region and a second marginal end region of the sheet are overlapped. In the forming step, a surface is formed integral with one end of the sheet and having at least one groove therein. The surface secures the first marginal end region and the second marginal end region to one another by a seam. The seamed flexible imaging member comprises a sheet having opposed marginal end regions. The marginal end regions of the sheet are secured to one another by a material which may include a portion of the sheet, a separate securing material or both. The material defines a surface having at least one groove therein with one end of the surface being integral with one end of the sheet.
