Abstract: An engine comprises an air intake arrangement configured to receive air; a heat exchanger arrangement arranged downstream of the air intake arrangement, configured to cool the air, and comprising a plurality of heat exchanger modules; and one or more turbomachinery components configured to receive cooled air from the heat exchanger arrangement. The plurality of heat exchanger modules are arranged to be generally centred on and to be arranged along a longitudinal axis of the engine. At least one of the plurality of heat exchanger modules is arranged to at least partially overlap with at least one other one of the plurality of heat exchanger modules relative to the longitudinal axis of the engine.

Abstract: A method of controlling the angular orientation of at least one variable fluidfoil. The method includes the steps of receiving detected fluidfoil angular orientation data for the at least one fluidfoil; receiving a fluidfoil angular orientation demand; generating a modified angular orientation demand by modifying the fluidfoil angular orientation demand before it is used to control adjustment of the at least one fluidfoil, the modification being performed using the detected fluidfoil angular orientation data; and outputting the modified demand and controlling the at least one fluidfoil angular orientation in accordance with the modified demand.

Abstract: A peripheral seal for a furnace, e.g. a soaking pit, comprising an elongate rectangular section fibre assembly mountable on the furnace roof or door such that a flat face of the assembly can bear on a mating face of the furnace wall, means being provided for advancing the assembly such that the flat face thereof can be maintained in contact with the wall face whereby to compensate for wear and erosion of the fibre assembly.
