  • Patent number: 8484997
Abstract: A known method for producing a cylinder of quartz glass comprises a method step in which a porous SiO2 body comprising a central inner bore, a lower end and an upper end is sintered in a sintering furnace zone by zone, starting from the upper end, to obtain the quartz glass cylinder, a holding device being used by means of which the SiO2 body is held standing in vertical orientation during a first sintering phase and suspended in a second sintering phase.

  • Publication number: 20050247080
Abstract: A conventional method for the production of a quartz glass blank comprises a method step in which SiO2 particles are generated by means of a series of deposition burners and deposited on a cylinder outer surface of a support, rotating about the longitudinal axis thereof to form a cylindrical porous SiO2 soot body. The surface temperature of the forming soot body is altered by means of a temperature adjustment body. According to the invention, the above may be developed to give an economical method for the production of an SiO2 soot body with low axial thickness variations and to provide a device of simple construction of the same, whereby the temperature adjustment body is applied in the form of a planar element running along a significant part of the SiO2 soot body, which either acts on the soot body surface as a temperature-screening homogeneous heat sink or as a homogeneous reflector for temperature raising, by means of heat radiation.

  • Patent number: 6567007
Abstract: An electrical component is proposed that has at least one voltage divider that can be read out using an evaluation unit to identify the electrical component by means of a voltage measurement. An evaluation unit is first connected to the electrical component, and a voltage measurement is carried out and converted by way of an analog-digital converter into a digital code with which the electrical component can be identified. This identification can be output via a data output to an electrical device.

  • Patent number: 6321573
Abstract: In a known process for the manufacture of an elongated porous SiO2 preform, SiO2 particles are deposited on the mantle surface of a cylindrical carrier rotating about its longitudinal axis. The SiO2 particles are formed by means of a plurality of deposition burners which are arranged, at a distance from one another, in at least one burner row extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the carrier. The burners are moved in a repeated cycle back and forth along the forming preform and between turnaround points where the direction of their motion is reversed. Measures are taken in the process to prevent or reduce overheating of the preform in the turnaround point regions. These measures can lead to variations in the rate of deposition.
