  • Patent number: 6401342
Abstract: A cutting knife is provided for a cutting tool for severing cement beads of window panes that are cemented in motor vehicles. The cutting knife is formed from a flat material which is bent into the shape of an U. The knife comprises a cutting portion forming one leg of the U, a securement portion forming the other leg of the U, and an intermediate bridge that connects the cutting portion with the securement portion. The securement portion is provided at its free end with an opening for securing the knife to an oscillatory drive unit of the cutting tool and tapers from this securement opening toward the intermediate bridge. In one embodiment, the securement portion is provided with a curved section at the end adjacent the intermediate bridge. In another embodiment, the cutting portion has a cross-section with a central section that is defined by two parallel surfaces. A serrated or saw-like cutting edge is preferably provided on the cutting portion.

  • Patent number: 5231910
Abstract: A device is disclosed for producing surface channels of at least approximately rectangular cross-section in sheeting consisting of a soft material, in particular mineral-fiber insulating mats or sheeting consisting of a styrene polymer. The device makes use of a motor-operated cutting tool with an oscillating cutter. The cutter comprises sections which are bent off relative to each other and which are provided with a cutting edge, at least in part. The cutting edge extends over at least three of two sections which form together a U or L, respectively. The cutter is passed through the sheeting approximately along a straight line.

  • Patent number: 5038478
Abstract: To so improve a paring knife for paring off the remainders of a bead of adhesive with which a motor vehicle pane was fixed on a motor vehicle body, comprising an attachment part for fixing the paring knife to a pivotally oscillating drive and a cutting part having a cutting edge and extending in a longitudinal direction away from the attachment part, that the paring efficiency to be achieved with it is better, it is proposed that the cutting part comprise as first cutting edge a side edge arranged on a side of the cutting part and extending in the longitudinal direction in a first cutting surface, and that the cutting part comprise at a front end opposite the attachment part a supporting surface extending substantially perpendicularly to the first cutting surface at the front end and transversely to the longitudinal direction and protruding in the longitudinal direction beyond the cutting part.

  • Patent number: 4980976
Abstract: In order to improve an angular, U-shaped knife for cutting tools for severing beads of adhesive on window panes of motor vehicles which is drivable about a point of rotation with a small swivel angle and at a high frequency and which comprises an attachment part with a receiving means connectable to a drive shaft coaxial with the point of rotation as first U-leg, an intermediate part as central U-leg and a cutting part as second U-leg, such that while having the same cutting capability as the curved, sickle-shaped knives it is also suitable for completely severing the bead of adhesive throughout its entire width in a corner region, it is suggested that the cutting part be of straight orientation.

  • Patent number: 4700478
Abstract: A knife to be mounted in an oscillating tool for cutting through the adhesive that fastens a window pane in place, especially in a motor vehicle. To reduce the risk of damage to its edge and to the window frame or other areas of the vehicle body, the knife has a rest made out of a soft material, especially plastic, associated with at least one side of the blade.
