  • Patent number: 6506226
Abstract: The invention relates to a hard metal or cermet body with a hard material phase consisting of WC and/or at least one carbide, nitride, carbonitride and/or oxicarbonitride of at least one of the elements from group IVa, Va, or VIa of the periodic table and a binding metal phase consisting of Fe, Co and/or Ni, said binding metal phase making up 3 to 25 mass %. In particular, WC crystallites should protrude beyond the hard metal or cermet surface of the by 2 to 20 &mgr;m in order to improve the adhesion of surface layers that are applied.

  • Patent number: 5414922
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a riveted joint using a riveting tool. The essential feature is that a pin-shaped blank of a recrystallized, coarse-grained iron-based or nickel-based ODS superalloy having a grain elongation in the longitudinal direction of 5:1 to 50:1 is used for the rivets. The production of the rivet heads is performed under defined process temperatures, at a pin temperature between 600.degree. and 1000.degree. C. and at a tool temperature between 50.degree. and 300.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 4752335
Abstract: A process for forming a metallic sputter target and a metallic sputter target product are provided. The process provides a dense homogenious bulk material of high strength comprising ductile metal components which forms a brittle composition when alloying. The process employs a mixture of individual components at least one of which being ductile at room temperatures. The individual components can be all metals, or a mixture of metals and non-metals. The individual components are formed into a powder mixture in a first step. Unlike hot pressing or other melting techniques which can cause ductile components to alloy into brittle materials, the powder mixture is cold pressed to form a shaped body which is thereafter densified by repeated working at temperatures below the lowest of the melting points of the individual components. This treatment occurs under conditions of material flow and cold welding.
