  • Publication number: 20100112132
Abstract: A composition useful for the treatment of beverages comprising xerogel particles having a pore volume of from about 0.2 to about 2.0 m2/g, a median particle size of from about 5 to about 40 microns, wherein the composition comprises less than about 30% by weight of fines.

  • Patent number: 6294505
Abstract: The present invention relates to an integrated additive composition which contains anti-blocking agents and at least one organic component and is characterized in that the organic component(s) is (are) localized in a concentration of 5 to 65 wt.-%, relative to the total weight of the composition, in the pores of the anti-blocking agent, the volume of the organic component(s) not being greater, however, than the pore volume of the anti-blocking agent. The invention also describes processes for the preparation of this integrated additive composition and its use in polyolefin films and in injection molding.

  • Patent number: 6103004
Abstract: The invention relates to an aggregated silica gel which has been produced from silica gel particles having a particle size of 1 to 20.mu., a surface of 200 to 1000 m.sup.2 /g and a specific pore volume of 0.4 to 2.5 ml/g and a binding agent selected from synthetic or natural phyllosilicate, pyrogenic silicon dioxide and organic polymers soluble in water or dispersible in water. Aggregation takes place by spray-drying a suspension having 1 to 25% solids. The product is suitable as a matting agent for coatings, as an antiblocking agent for polymer films and as a beer clarifying agent.

  • Patent number: 6066691
Abstract: An anti-blocking agent comprising silicon dioxide or mixtures of silicon dioxide and zeolite is described, which is characterized in that it has a bimodal pore size distribution, the first maximum of the bimodal pore size distribution being in the pore size range <5 nm and the second maximum of the bimodal pore size distribution in the pore size range >6 nm. The anti-blocking agent is obtainable by micronizing a mixture comprising silicon dioxide of a certain pore size and silicon dioxide and/or zeolite having a different pore size. It can be produced together with lubricating agent as a combined anti-blocking and lubricating agent. Incorporation of the anti-blocking agent or of the combined anti-blocking agent and lubricating agent into a polymer in the form of a master batch is preferable.

  • Patent number: 5221337
Abstract: A universally applicable SiO.sub.2 -flatting agent is described, which consists of SiO.sub.2, 1 to 25% by weight polyol and optionally 1 to 25% by weight wax. The novel flatting agent is, even after lengthy storage, especially at pressure, still easily dispersible, does not lead to the formation of a hard sediment with non-thixotropic paints and lacquers, and has practically no negative effect on the thixotropic behaviour of paints and lacquers based on thixotropic polyamide-modified alkyd resins. The SiO.sub.2, polyol and wax can be brought together in a variety of ways, e.g. during the micronization of the SiO.sub.2 in a jet-mill or mechanical mill by adding polyol and wax at the same time, by spray-drying a suspension of SiO.sub.2 in an aqueous polyol solution or even before drying by adding polyol during washing or an earlier production step. It is also possible to spray-dry a suspension of SiO.sub.2, wax emulsion and polyol.

  • Patent number: 4675122
Abstract: Combined antiblocking agent and lubricant concentrate based on polyolefin, which contains diatomaceous earth, precipitated silica and/or silica gel as the antiblocking agent, one or more amides of unsaturated C.sub.18 -C.sub.22 -fatty acids and optionally further conventional additives and which is characterized in that it contains 5 to 35% by weight of antiblocking agent and 5 to 30% by weight of lubricant. The high lubricant concentration in the combination concentrate according to the invention is obtained in that the antiblocking agent and the lubricant are incorporated into the polyolefin in the form of a homogeneous, finely divided mixture. The antiblocking agent serves as a carrier for the micronized lubricant, i.e. the lubricant is adsorbed on the large surface of the antiblocking agent, so that the "flowing away" of the lubricant otherwise observed in the case of high lubricant concentrations during incorporation into the polyolefin is avoided.
