  • Patent number: 4927379
Abstract: The connector, for example, is in the form of a terminal portion of a commutator segment and has two overlying parts. Each part is provided with a slot open at one end and the two slots are arranged so as to be only partly in register with one another so that the resulting slot in the terminal portion is narrower than each of the slots in the two overlying parts and is open at one end for receiving and gripping an armature winding portion. Non-aligned regions (as considered in a direction perpendicular to the plane of each overlying part) bordering the slots of the two overlying parts are offset, e.g. part sheared, out of the plane of the respective part towards the other part.

  • Patent number: 4764700
Abstract: There is disclosed an armature for an electric motor having an armature winding electrically connected to the armature commutator. The armature also has three or more housings in which portions of the armature winding are located and the connection includes terminals having a configuration for establishing and maintaining electrical contact between a terminal and a winding portion while retaining the terminal and the winding portion within a housing. The housings are in the form of radial projections which present side surfaces that act to centrifuge air outwardly to cause air to be drawn over and cool the commutator.

  • Patent number: 4746829
Abstract: An improved brush gear assembly for use in a miniature motor. The brush gear assembly is mounted within the interior of the end cap of the motor and basically consists of three parts: a terminal element or fitting, a brush leaf element, and a brush. The terminal element consists of a generally planar brass part, a major part of which is defined as an elongated rectangular portion. One end of the rectangular portion defines a bending end. Near the bending end are disposed three staggered projections arranged generally in line adjacent to a transverse bending line formed on the rectangular portion. The leaf spring is formed from a substantially elongated planar copper strip, which has one end terminating in a bending portion. The remainder of the strip constitutes a spring portion and terminates at its other end in a brush receiving portion, which is reinforced by bending the sides in an upward direction.

  • Patent number: 4656380
Abstract: There is disclosed an armature for an electrical device having an armature winding electrically connected to an armature termination, the armature winding being connectable to an external circuit by the termination. The armature also has a housing in which a portion of the armature winding is located and the termination includes a terminal having a configuration for establishing and maintaining electrical contact between the terminal and the winding portion while retaining the terminal and the winding portion within the housing.

  • Patent number: 4056770
Abstract: To test the flux of circular segmental permanent magnets for assembly in permanent magnet dynamo electric machines, typically electric motors, a gauge is made of soft iron having an inner segmentally circular soft iron core, on it a layer of non-magnetic material to simulate the air gap of the motor, space for the permanent magnet to be inserted, and a return soft iron yoke in magnetic circuit with the core. A measuring coil which is chorded is located on the gauge to sense the magnetic flux, and so placed on the core that it conforms, at least approximately, to the pitch angle of the armature winding of the dynamo electric machine with which the magnet is to be used.
