  • Patent number: 4387716
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for livestock obstetrics. The apparatus bears against the body of the dam, a leg sling is placed on the offspring, and two slides can progressively be moved along a rod to tension the leg sling. To move the slides, a tensioning lever is hinged to one slide, and an intermediate lever is hinged at a different location to the one slide and is also hinged to the other slide. The intermediate lever is in two parts normally held together by spring tension, but if an excess load is applied by the tensioning lever the spring tension is overcome and the parts separate, whereby maximum permissible tension between dam and offspring is not exceeded. To completely release the pull on the offspring, the tensioning lever can be moved to release both slides.

  • Patent number: 4267051
Abstract: An improvement for the aeration of the water and combining the aeration with the cleansing of the water by a biological cover, in which one or several circular disks rotate in a clarifying reservoir about a horizontal shaft. These carry at their circumference annularly bent funnels which extend in part above the water surface and continuously converge in direction from the inlet opening to the outlet opening. Above the water surface air enters through the inlet opening into the funnel and below the water surface water enters into it. Because the funnel converges continuously, both water and air are accelerated and compressed in the funnel. The compression assures that the amount of oxygen which is soluble in the water and can be accepted by the same from the air, is substantially increased. The biological cover forms on the disks and on the outer surface of the funnel.

  • Patent number: 4130938
Abstract: A plier has a pair of arms each composed of a jaw portion and a handle portion, and the jaw portions carry respective cutting elements. The arms are pivoted together so that when the handle portions are moved towards one another the jaw portions also move towards one another, and vice versa. Interengaging toothed racks are provided on the handle and jaw portions of the arms in the region where they are pivoted together and cooperate with one another to form a reduction gear.
