Patent number: 8095529Abstract: A method and system for ranking relevancy of metadata associated with media on a computer network, such as multimedia and streaming media, include categorizing the metadata into sets of metadata. The categories are broad categories relating to areas such as who, what, when, and where, such as artist, media type, and creation date, creation location. Weights are assigned to each set of metadata. Weights are related to technical information such as bit rate, duration, sampling rate, frequency of occurrence of a specific term, etc. A score is calculated for ranking the relevancy of each set of metadata. The score is calculated in accordance with the assigned weight and category. This score is available for search systems (e.g., search engines) and/or users to determine the relative ranking of search results.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2005Date of Patent: January 10, 2012Assignee: AOL Inc.Inventors: Theodore George Diamond, Daniel Allen Hendrick, Eric Carl Rehm, Melissa Anne Riesland

Publication number: 20050020698Abstract: To use significantly less propellant in the manufacture of two-phase aerosol space spray products while avoiding the use of a vapor tap valve the sprayed product uses a reduced concentration of propellant and perhaps also organic solvent, of 8.5-18% by weight. Substantial economic, environmental and consumer safety benefits are also achieved.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2004Publication date: January 27, 2005Inventors: George Diamond, Ralph Helmrich, Chung Kim

Patent number: 6094593Abstract: A method for detecting a heart disorder comprises examination of a phase-plane plot (PPP) of a patient electrocardiogram (EKG). The PPP's degree of deterministic chaos may be measured by a processor. Analysis of the PPP may indicate a propensity for fibrillation that is, indicate both the risk of fibrillation and its actual onset (cases where risk is 100 percent). A second method for detecting a heart disorder comprises examination of a frequency-domain transform (such as an FFT) of a patient EKG. An automatic defibrillating device may comprise means for delivering a variable shock, the size of which is determined at least in part by the FFT's peak energy. A method for detecting drug toxicity comprises examination of a parameter time constant for an action-potential duration (APD) restitution curve which is constructed for the patient.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1997Date of Patent: July 25, 2000Assignee: Cedars-Sinai Medical CenterInventors: Hrayr S. Karagueuzian, George A. Diamond, Steven S. Khan, Timothy A. Denton, Steven Evans

Patent number: 5386829Abstract: The disclosed method provides a two-dimensional display of an enhanced image of measurement data from a prescribed test (e.g., a medical test), which is adjusted to incorporate information relating to a known pretest probability that a particular condition is present. The enhancement adjusts a particular parameter of the two-dimensional image, such as gray level or hue, to facilitate a more accurate evaluation of the condition.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1992Date of Patent: February 7, 1995Assignee: Cedars-Sinai Medical CenterInventor: George A. Patent number: 5211317Abstract: A low pressure aerosol dispensing can which is distinguished from existing high pressure aerosol dispensing cans. The generally cylindrical can has a thin wall thickness, like that of a carbonated beverage can, which can be distorted by finger pressure but whose shape is maintained by internal gas pressure. The liquid contents to be dispensed and the propellant gas are mixed in the can. The dispensing valve at the top of the can dispenses the liquid contents and propellant in a controlled manner. The valve may include an additional narrow bore vapor tap between the gaseous propellant head space in the can and the valve chamber for delivering extra gas for atomizing the liquid and propelling it from the nozzle. The gas pressure in the can is coordinated with the can wall and bottom thickness so that the can will have sufficient distortion resistance and burst resistance at elevated temperature.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1992Date of Patent: May 18, 1993Inventors: George Diamond, Ralph Helmrich

Patent number: 4295473Abstract: An apparatus and method in which the amount of movement of a boundary in one or more dimensions on a dynamically movable structure or a series of sequential visual representations of said structure is measured. The boundary movement is measured by the degree of shiftable movement between light and dark areas. The motion may be analyzed and quantified in terms of linear motion or area change and an electrical analog of such motion is generated in format suitable for recordation by conventional reproducing or display mechanisms, as for example, a conventional chart recorder. In one embodiment, movement in one dimension, e.g. a linear dimension, is detected but not necessarily quantified. In another embodiment, the movement in the linear dimension is detected and measured so as to provide a quantification thereof. In a further embodiment the movement is measured in at least two dimensions to provide quantification of area changes.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1979Date of Patent: October 20, 1981Inventors: George Diamond, James Forrester, Michael Hirsch, Ran Vas

Patent number: 4182315Abstract: An apparatus and method for the detection of movement of body tissues and, more particularly, movements of segments of the heart muscle and method for a noninvasive technique for the detection of coronary and arterial abnormalities. The apparatus includes a probe, preferably in the form of a detector plate, utilizing electric field measurement for detection of movements of a nearby segment of the body tissue, as for example, a segment of the heart muscle. The detector plate is coupled to a variable-frequency oscillator and phase-lock system for measuring capacitive change used to shift the phase of the oscillator when the detector is placed with respect to a certain body tissue. The apparatus employs its own unique system of timing heart movement in that the detector is capable of sensing a signal having a low frequency component which provides information regarding tissue movement.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1977Date of Patent: January 8, 1980Inventors: Ran Vas, James S. Forrester, George A. Diamond
