  • Publication number: 20160209185
Abstract: A remote control target and method of using same is provided. A remote control target is used outdoors or at an indoor shooting range and guided over terrain by a remote control. An interchangeable target is mounted on a wheeled carriage assembly comprising a motor wherein the remote control controls movement of the target-bearing carriage over terrain. The remote control target may include a gimbal mounted between the target and the carriage, wherein the gimbal rotates the target with respect to the carriage. In some embodiments, the target comprises an explosive charge, wherein the target explodes when struck in a defined area by a fired projectile, creating a striking visual and auditory display to confirm a “kill.

  • Patent number: 6932090
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for treating motion sickness. In a preferred embodiment a method of the invention comprises operating eyewear having shutter lenses to open said shutter lenses at a selected operating frequency ranging from within about 3 Hz to about 50 Hz. The shutter lenses are opened for a short duration at the selected operating frequency wherein the duration is selected to prevent retinal slip. The shutter lenses may be operated at a relatively slow frequency of about 4 Hz when the user is in passive activity such as riding in a boat or car or in limited motion situations in a spacecraft. The shutter lenses may be operated at faster frequencies related to motion of the user's head when the user is active.

  • Publication number: 20050076740
Abstract: A connecting rod for an engine includes a connecting rod body having a pin bore formed in one end and a crank arm bore formed in an opposite end. The opposite end has a squirt hole formed therethrough with a first end of the squirt hole facing the crank arm bore and a second end of the squirt hole facing away from the connecting rod at a desired angle for squirting oil. The second end of the squirt hole has a diameter at least as large as the first end of the squirt hole. Accordingly, the squirt hole is drilled from outside the connecting rod without removing the cap.

  • Patent number: 5146675
Abstract: A cylindrical roller apparatus for a glass tempering oven comprises a ceramic roller having a first end portion and a second end portion, a flat formed on each end portion of the roller, an end cap having a cylindrical wall mounted on each end portion of the roller, a metal retaining plate positioned on each flat, and a screw threaded through each end cap wall that screws into contact with the retaining plate for securing each end cap to the roller and for pushing the roller flush against the inner surface of the end cap wall. An acess hole can be provided in the end cap for welding together the screw, retaining plate, and end cap. Grooves can also be formed on the inner surface of the end cap, accessible through an opening formed through the end cap, to allow injection of adhesive between the roller and end cap to further secure the two together.

  • Patent number: 4694916
Abstract: A continuous coring drill bit having a body forming external lands for support of cutting elements such as industrial diamonds and grooves for conducting drilling fluid during drilling. The body further forms an internal cavity receiving a tubular core breaker in freely rotatable relation therein and also forms a central throat receiving a core as the drilling operation continues. The core breaker is provided with an internal buttress and is eccentrically mounted within the body such that rotation of the body induces lateral oscillation of the buttress causing it to fracture the core into small sections. By reverse circulation the core sections are transported upwardly through the drill string to the surface for separation from the drilling fluid and analysis by geologists.

  • Patent number: 4274497
Abstract: A skirted crossover sub for joining an air hammer to a string of dual concentric drill pipe is characterized by passageways for directing air from the pipe string annulus to operate the hammer and for directing exhaust air and cuttings from the hammer bit to the inner pipe of the string. A tubular skirt at the downhole end of the sub surrounds the hammer and channels the flow of exhaust air therebetween. A packer and uphole reamer may be included, as well as valves for air lift and for providing proper air flow direction in the borehole annulus.
