  • Publication number: 20230133069
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus for measuring the ammonia concentration in exhaled breath and a method for measuring the ammonia concentration in exhaled breath. The apparatus comprises a sample collection portion, capable of capturing exhaled breath to control the volume of exhaled breath, a pressure gauge for the control of the flow rate of exhaled breath, a small diameter inner tube oriented in a perpendicular direction to the colorimetric sensor to focus the exhaled breath stream onto the central region of the sensor, and an analysis portion capable of receiving said exhaled breath from said sample collection portion. The analysis portion comprises a colorimetric sensor comprising an active component on a substrate. The colorimetric sensor changes color proportional to the ammonia concentration in said exhaled breath.

  • Patent number: 9195923
Abstract: Document personalization machines with a mechanism designed to operate as an in-line document puncher/voider. The document personalization machine includes a document personalization mechanism that performs a personalization operation on the document, a document transport mechanism that transports the document along a document path through the document personalization machine and a document punch mechanism that creates a punch hole on the document. The document can be, for example, a card such as a financial (e.g. credit and debit) card, drivers' license, and a national identification document, or another documents such as a passport. A punched hole can, for example, indicate that the document is void, destroy a magnetic stripe, integrated circuit chip or other information storage medium on the document, or provide access for a lanyard, a key ring and the like.

  • Patent number: 8320386
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for aggregating parallel data links connecting two end-point devices into a logical link. If one of the parallel data links is a multi-point link, then an end-point device can still access that link to route traffic to an end station on the link (that is, to a device other than the other end-point device of the logical data link). In the terminology of this disclosure, the logical aggregated link is accessed through an “aggregated port” on an end-point device, while the constituent multi-point link is accessed directly through a “singleton port.” By assigning a smaller cost to the aggregated port than to the singleton port, embodiments avoid creating routing loops. In some embodiments, the aggregation is performed at Layer 2 of the Open System Interconnection seven-layer protocol model. Then, the methods of the present invention work well with existing IEEE 802.1 bridging architectures and protocols.

  • Publication number: 20060198337
Abstract: A method and apparatus (500) for operating a node within an ad-hoc communication system (100) is provided herein. A single-radio relay node (500) is used to link overlapping piconets operating on different radio channels. All nodes (203-208) within the ad-hoc communication system (100) operate on multiple channels, which differ for each associated piconet (201, 202). When relaying data between piconets, a node's transceiver (505) will be receiving data during a first time period on a first channel (the data transmitted from a first node existing in a first piconet). During a second time period, the transceiver (505) will relay the data over a second channel to a second node existing in a second piconet.

  • Publication number: 20060146870
Abstract: The present invention provides for facilitating establishment of communication with Internet protocol version four (IPv4) private addresses of IPv4 nodes of private networks by using Internet protocol version six (IPv6). In one of many possible embodiments, a gateway is configured to connect an IPv4 private address of a private network node with a public network. The gateway is assigned a globally routable IPv4 address. The gateway is further configured to generate a globally routable IPv6 address based on the IPv4 private address of the IPv4 node and the globally routable IPv4 address of the gateway.

  • Publication number: 20040148439
Abstract: A system and method for creating a peer to peer network by interconnecting private networks via publicly addressable residential gateways. A tunnel between a gateway of a first private network and a gateway of a second private network is established and the address of a device in one of the private networks is mapped into the other private network for enabling the device in one of the private networks to communicate with the other private network. Interconnection between private networks is enabled where the private networks and connected devices are able to communicate among themselves without changes to the host system or a need for a centralized server in the public network. Security is provided through the use of Internet Protocol Security (IPsec).
