  • Publication number: 20220326379
Abstract: A system, device and methodology for detecting an object and its position in a field of view of a beam fan. The system can comprise a reflection detector sensor array arranged to detect a light beam reflected by an object impinged by a beam fan in the field of view and output a reflected beam position trigger signal; a line sensor arranged to capture an image of the reflected light beam and output beam reflection data corresponding to the light beam; an angle position sensor array arranged to detect an angle of the beam fan with respect to a central axis and output a beam fan position signal; and a speedup processor arranged to receive the reflected beam position trigger signal, receive the beam reflection data, receive the beam fan position signal, and output the beam reflection data to a central processor. A position of the object in the field of view can be determined based on the beam reflection data and beam fan position signal.

  • Patent number: 9216002
Abstract: Standby power supplies for patient tables need frequent replacement of the lead-acid batteries on which they depend. We propose to feed the emergency power direct to the drive motors, subsequent to the control circuitry. This will reduce the load on the standby power system, allowing greater design freedom to select longer-lasting or less expensive energy stores.

  • Publication number: 20070156564
Abstract: Various new and non-obvious apparatus and methods for gathering and reporting tax credits to the IRS are disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, reporters are chosen in a business. Question sets tailored for the individual reporters are presented to the reporters at periodic intervals. The reporters are expected to answer the questions within a given time. If the answers indicate that a qualifying activity has occurred, then the reporters are asked to input information into a database about the qualifying activity. Based on the nature of the qualifying activity, one or more of the question sets may be modified to periodically ask about this qualifying event. A qualifying event reported by one reporter can modify another reporter's question set. Reporters are also allowed in input information that is not in the question sets. This information can then be used to make further modifications to the question sets.

  • Publication number: 20060242348
Abstract: A integrated circuit (IC) implementation of a protection circuit detects and resolves a fault on a bus, such as a stuck-low condition on an I2C bus. The circuit includes logic that detects a fault condition caused by the slave device, e.g. when one or both lines are low for a period longer than a timeout value in the I2C example. Upon detecting the fault condition, the logic disconnects the slave device from the data line and the clock line, for example by activation of switches incorporated in the IC. This typically frees the bus for use by other devices. The logic may also send the slave device one or more clock signals to clear the fault and/or a stop bit when the fault clears to reset the data register in the slave device.

  • Patent number: 6459784
Abstract: A method for defining a call forward operation in a telecommunications system. A user activates a call forward function, and receives a system response proposing a default value for the orginator. The user either validates the default originator or makes and validates an alternate choice. Once the originator is validated, the user receives a system response proposing a default value for the destination. Once again, the user either validates the default destination, or makes and validates an alternate choice. The originator and destination are identified by the system by an assigned number, user name or combination of assigned number and user name.

  • Patent number: 5821556
Abstract: A superconductive junction (10) comprises a first track (22) of YBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7 surmounted by a second track (28) also of YBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7. An interconnect (26) in the form of a superconductive mesa electrically connects the first track to the second track and acts as a microbridge. When cooled below a critical temperature, the junction (10) shows Josephson-like behaviour. A non-superconductive layer (24) of PrBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7 separates the first track and the second track, with the interconnect extending through the PrBa.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7 layer in the form of an island. The junction (10) is fabricated by electron beam evaporation, optical lithography, and ion beam milling.

  • Patent number: 3973413
Abstract: A knitting device has a needle bed consisting of a plurality of equidistantly spaced parallel needles and a sinker the needles being held between two depressor plates which form location points for a locking bar which in use closes the barbs of the needles when the sinker has picked up a row of stitches by movement along the needle bed so that said row of stitches can be moved to the bottom of the needles to form a row of stitches in a knitted article.
