  • Patent number: 4187881
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a container outlet valve assembly is provided surrounding a container outlet including a generally cone-shaped housing extending upwardly into the container, and including radially spaced outer openings in the cone for lading to flow out of the container. A cone valve is located within the housing containing spaced openings which align with the outer openings in the cone housing when the cone valve is in open position. A liner of low friction material is attached to the outer surface of the cone valve and/or the inner surface of the cone housing. The cone valve is rigidly attached to a vertically extending shaft which is journaled for rotation in a bearing in the cone housing. A hub extends radially outwardly from the lower portion of the shaft to the cone valve. The cone valve is rotatable to a closed position in which the valve body closes the openings located in the cone valve housing.

  • Patent number: 4101175
Abstract: A hopper is provided having a discharge outlet including a lading control valve for metering the lading into a discharge tube extending below the hopper. The discharge tube at one of its ends is adapted to receive a lading transfer conduit to convey the lading to a container. A first conduit is provided to apply air pressure from an air supply source adjacent the hopper to the upper portion of the hopper in the car. A second conduit is provided to apply air pressure from the source into a first end portion of the discharge tube. A third conduit is connected to the source and to the second conduit to apply air pressure to the opposite end portion of the discharge tube. A first air control valve is provided to control the air pressure applied to the upper portion of the hopper. A second air control valve is provided for controlling air pressure applied to the end portion of the discharge tube to be used for unloading.

  • Patent number: 4062596
Abstract: In a pneumatic outlet a "U" shaped bail assembly is pivotally mounted on at least one end wall of the outlet. The bail assembly includes a pair of arms which extend outwardly from the end wall beyond the discharge tube of the outlet, and a body portion which extends transverse to the longitudinal axis of the discharge tube and joins the arms. A locking handle is mounted on the body portion which is movable to a locking position to maintain the end cap in engagement with the discharge tube. A locking assembly mounted on one of the arms of the bail is movable between a position blocking movement of the locking handle from the locking position and a position allowing movement of the locking handle to the unlocked position. A fastener member carried by the locking assembly is operable to fasten the locking assembly in the handle blocking position.
