  • Publication number: 20240033508
Abstract: A load bearing implant provided with an auto-generator generating an electric charge. One or more nanogenerators are incorporated into or onto the load bearing implant or a delivery vehicle. It is believed that electric charge improves the healing of damaged/injured tissues.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 27, 2022
    Publication date: February 1, 2024
Inventors: Todd Shanks, George Alexander Jones
  • Publication number: 20240033503
Abstract: An implant provided with an auto-generator generating an electric charge. One or more nanogenerators are incorporated into or onto the implant or used as stand-alone devices. It is believed that electric charge improves the healing of damaged/injured tissues.

  • Publication number: 20230029611
Abstract: An orthopedic prosthesis for stimulating bone growth may include a substrate having at least one bone-facing surface and at least one internal surface, at least one piezoelectric nanostructure coupled to the at least one bone-facing surface of the substrate, at least one charge storing material placed within the orthopedic prosthesis proximate the at least one internal surface, and an interconnect in electrical communication with the at least one piezoelectric nanostructure and the charge storing material. The at least one piezoelectric nanostructure may be configured to generate an electric charge in response to at least one mechanical force applied to the at least one piezoelectric nanostructure and the interconnect may be configured to transfer the electric charge to the at least one charge storing material to promote bone in-growth within the orthopedic prosthesis and/or on the at least one bone-facing surface.
