Patent number: 6971225Abstract: A control arrangement is configured to remotely control operation of a windrow merger pulled by a tow vehicle. The windrow merger includes a plurality of functional systems or assemblies configured to selectively collect and discharge crop material, and that can be adjusted to alter the operating characteristics or parameters of the windrow merger. The control arrangement includes a controller, a housing, and a harness configured to communicate control signals from the controller to the number of functional assemblies. The control arrangement further includes a manifold assembly configured to the control signals from the controller to respective control valves operable to control operation of the number of functional assemblies. Thereby, the controller allows the operator to regulate operation and activation of each of the number of functional assemblies from the operator's cab of the tow vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2003Date of Patent: December 6, 2005Assignee: Gehl CompanyInventors: Russell J. Patent number: 5551218Abstract: A control system for a large round baler includes a microprocessor-based implement module mounted to the baler and an input device mounted within the cab of the tractor behind which the baler is towed. The implement module receives inputs from the input device for setting and/or adjusting parameters of baler operation. Sensors are interconnected with various components of the baler for sensing operation of such components, and provide signals to the implement module indicative of baler operations. The sensor signals are analyzed by the microprocessor of the implement module, and various operations of the baler are controlled responsive to the sensor inputs.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1994Date of Patent: September 3, 1996Assignee: Gehl CompanyInventors: Steven J. Henderson, George B. Cicci, Kim P. Viesselmann

Patent number: 4629122Abstract: A field-going machine is disclosed for separating the green liquid fraction of a green vegetation crop into leaf protein concentrate fraction and a brown liquid fraction, where a portion of the brown liquid fraction is heated and then recirculated to mix with the incoming green liquid fraction to cause its coagulation.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1983Date of Patent: December 16, 1986Assignee: Navistar International CorporationInventors: Randolph G. Fardal, George B. Cicci, Man K. Leung

Patent number: 4546599Abstract: Roll opening apparatus for separating the crop conditioning rolls of a mower conditioner is presented. The mower conditioner is of the type wherein a wheel supported main frame has mounted thereto by pivotal linkage a transversely disposed header having a sickle spanning its forward edge, a rotary reel for rearwardly sweeping the crop cuttings across a platform, and an auger at the rear of the platform for delivering the crop cuttings to the nip of a pair of laterally extending upper and lower crop conditioning rolls. The lower conditioning roll is rotatably mounted to the header on a fixed axis. The upper conditioning roll is mounted on lever arms pivoted to the header and biased by tension springs to an operating position adjacent the lower roll. Each lever arm is fitted with a hydraulic cylinder mounted so that extension of its piston causes the upper conditioning roll to open against the force of the tension springs.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1984Date of Patent: October 15, 1985Assignee: The Paul Revere CorporationInventors: George B. Cicci, Erik J. Guldberg
-
Patent number: 4325209Abstract: A self-propelled crop harvester having a header for harvesting crop material, a macerator for shredding the crop into small particles, a press for separating the crop material into liquid and fibrous fractions, a blower for conveying the fibrous fraction into a trailing wagon, a separator for separating the liquid fraction into a protein portion and a heated deproteinized juice, and a system for directing the deproteinized juice in a high pressure flow to cut the standing crop at the header. In another embodiment the heated juice is applied to the standing crop to moisten and heat the crop for more efficient subsequent processing.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1981Date of Patent: April 20, 1982Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: George B. Cicci
-
Patent number: 4237680Abstract: A mower conditioner which is attached to its mobile carrying frame by an upper link and two laterally spaced lower swing links, is provided with a lateral floatation lockout device in the form of a torque transmitting bar selectively rigidly attached at each end to the lower swing links coaxially with the pivotal connection of the latter to the laterally elongated crop harvesting header.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1979Date of Patent: December 9, 1980Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventors: Manfried L. Hoch, George B. Cicci
-
Patent number: 4217746Abstract: A hay conditioner is provided with a crop deflecting baffle having an operative position for deflecting crops for deposit in a swath. Rearwardly converging deflector vanes are mounted on the baffle, preferably about halfway respectively between the transverse edges of the baffle and the center of the crop stream. Preferably, the angle of convergence of the vanes is less than that of the fixed side deflectors of the preferred windrowing apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1979Date of Patent: August 19, 1980Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventors: George B. Cicci, Leo A. Markert, George W. Ridge, Austin W. Lutz, Jr.

Patent number: 4177627Abstract: Linkage is provided for suspending a hay harvesting header beneath a mobile carrying frame having a lateral horizontal beam, the linkage including an upper link pivotally connected to the horizontal beam and extending rearwardly downwardly to a pivotal connection with the header and a pair of laterally spaced lower links extending from pivotal mountings with the header rearwardly to pivotal mountings with the frame. When the header is in the operating position, the instant center of rotation of the header is rearward but adjacent the harvester and when raised to transport the instant center moves rearward toward infinity.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1978Date of Patent: December 11, 1979Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventor: George B. Cicci

Patent number: 4174600Abstract: A roll opening device is provided for a hay harvesting machine of the type having a wheel supported main frame and a laterally elongated crop harvesting header mounted to the frame by pivotal linkage, the header having a fixed lower conditioning roll and an upper roll mounted on lever arms pivoted on said header and biased by tension spring to an operating position adjacent the lower roll. A toggle link is pivotally mounted to the header at each end of the roll adjacent the roll lever arms and is connected thereto. Tensile members interconnect the free ends of the toggle links with the frame so that when the header is raised to the transport position, the tensile members open the rolls against the force of the tensioning springs.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1978Date of Patent: November 20, 1979Assignee: International Harvester CompanyInventors: George B.
