Patent number: 6244529Abstract: Disclosed is a manually-operated garlic grater which is very easy to use and very efficient to grate cloves of garlic. This garlic grater has a casing defining a tubular cavity having a lateral opening. A handle is removably mounted in a rotatable manner onto the casing on top of one end of the tubular cavity. A hollow grating drum is rigidly connected to the handle so as to be rotated therewith. This drum extends within the tubular cavity when the handle is mounted onto the casing and has a cylindrical wall which extends at a short distance away from the inner wall of the tubular cavity. The handle and hollow grating drum altogether form one piece. A base is removably mounted onto the casing on top of the other ends of the tubular cavity. A wiper is rigidly connected to the base. This wiper extending radially within the drum when the base is mounted on the casing and bearing against the cylindrical wall of the drum to wipe the cylindrical wall when the drum is rotated.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2000Date of Patent: June 12, 2001Assignees: Desing Pierre Tardif Inc., Les Entreprises Yvan Laporte Inc.Inventors: Pierre Tardif, George Bigelow, Sr., George Bigelow, Jr.

Patent number: 5562256Abstract: A garlic grater having a grating drum with a cylindrical grate driven into rotation by a motor which is preferably operated with batteries. The grating drum is freely mounted within an inner liner in such a manner as to define an annular, garlic skin-receiving chamber between the grate and the inner surface of the inner liner. A lateral opening is provided in the inner liner, through which a clove of garlic can be inserted and press against the grate. The grater also has a base for collecting the garlic juice and gathering up the garlic gratings falling from the grating drum when a clove of garlic is pressed against the drum while the same is rotating. This base has a cup-shaped member detachably mounted under the drum, a central support projecting upwardly from the cup-shaped member so as to extend axially within the cylindrical grate, and a wiper radially projecting from the central support so as to contact and wipe the cylindrical grate surface internally while the grating drum is rotating.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1995Date of Patent: October 8, 1996Inventors: Norman B. Wolman, George Bigelow, Sr., George Bigelow, Jr., Pierre Tardif

Patent number: 5364037Abstract: An electric hand-held cheese grater device has a hinged spring-loaded cheese compartment door. The upper portion houses the power unit, which is activated by a button on the top of the unit. The lower portion houses a vertically-oriented grater blade in the form of a hollow cylinder residing within a conforming exit tube. The grater blade is connected to and rotated by a shaft powered by the power unit. Extending from the side of the lower portion is a cheese compartment wherein a piece of cheese is placed against the grater blade. A hinged, spring-loaded door opens outwardly to allow for the insertion of a piece of cheese into the cheese compartment. The spring-loading action of the door retains the cheese within the cheese compartment and forces the cheese against the rotating grater blade. In this manner, one hand operation of the cheese grater is effected.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1993Date of Patent: November 15, 1994Assignee: Nor-Wol Products, Inc.Inventor: George Bigelow

Patent number: 4298954Abstract: A buffer storage apparatus has two buffers alternating between receiving and supplying data signals. The buffer functions are alternated between the buffers when one of the buffers is empty and another one of the buffers has received a predetermined number of signals even though that data-receiving buffer is not yet full. With data transferred in blocks of data bytes, switching between buffers occurs on the predetermined address boundaries of the data blocks. Alternation of functions between the buffers can occur at any one of a plurality of address boundaries within the data-receiving one of the buffers. By using a plurality of such buffer storage apparatus to connect individual data burst units to a plural-port high-speed common unit, each data burst unit has a high speed buffered access to the high speed common unit.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1979Date of Patent: November 3, 1981Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: George A.
