  • Patent number: 4113641
Abstract: It has been found that unexpectedly high charge to mass ratios may be achieved in a development powder if the carrier particle of the development powder is treated with a perfluoroalkyl sulfonic acid. Treating carrier particles with a monolayer of such an acid has produced charge to mass ratios of 20 to 26 .times. 10.sup.-6 coulombs/gm. The acid concentration in of the solution used in this treatment has been found to be critical.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 12, 1978
    Assignee: Pitney-Bowes, Inc.
Inventors: George Brana, John J. Russell
  • Patent number: 4071655
Abstract: Carrier particles of development powders are treated with a sodium salt of polystyrene sulfonic acid. As a result of the treatment, the triboelectric properties of the carrier particles are better controlled.
