    Abstract: A system is provided that is operable to obtain acoustic data from a patient and analyze the data to diagnose whether a patient has a medical condition. In one embodiment, an acoustic detector obtains acoustic data from a patient swallowing and communicates the information with an acoustic processor. The processor analyzes the data by comparing the acoustic data to evaluate the presence of one or more acoustic features to determine the presence or absence of aspiration during swallowing.
