  • Publication number: 20170356870
Abstract: A remote terminal unit for use in monitoring a metallic pipeline can take an electrical measurement at the pipe and transmit the measurement in a modulated signal to a main measurement unit located along the pipe and distant from the remote terminal unit. The electrical measurement is taken at regular time intervals between a reference electrode electrically connected to the pipe and a coupon composed of a sacrificial corrosion material in order to monitor the pipe for possible corrosion. The electrical measurement is modulated with a low frequency carrier signal for transmission along the pipe, eliminating the need to take the measurements directly at physical locations along the pipe.

  • Publication number: 20170249912
Abstract: A mirror display with controllable information display areas. The mirror display includes a reflective viewer side to function as a mirror and an LCD device located on a non-viewer side to provide information display areas, which are viewable through the mirror display on the viewer side. A processor is electronically connected with the LCD device for controlling a position, such as the location and size, of the information display areas on the viewer side of the mirror. The position of the information display areas can be controlled via user input or a signal received from a sensor associated with the mirror.

  • Publication number: 20140355298
Abstract: Optical articles that include adhesive lightguides having resonant circuits and one or more light sources are described. More particularly, optical articles having resonant circuits that, upon a triggering event, cause the one or more light source to emit light into the adhesive lightguide such that light is transported within the lightguide by total internal reflection are described. Additionally, applications and embodiments that include such optical articles are described.

  • Patent number: 7805753
Abstract: Restrictions on optical drive code changes, such as a predetermined number of region code changes for playing optical media with varying region codes, are enforced with an application solution. Each request to perform a region code change is authorized by retrieving a certificate to verify that a code change is permitted, decrementing the number of remaining authorized code changes reflected by the certificate, and storing the updated certificate for use at a subsequent code change request. The certificate is generated by application of one or more unique identifiers and encrypted during storage for security.

  • Patent number: 6661464
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for an improved video display. Depending on the amount of motion contained in the video data, either the bob or the weave method of de-interlacing is used. If video data is in the progressive format, then no de-interlacing is used. After initially determining which method of de-interlacing to use, the invention continues to monitor the amount of motion in the data and changes the de-interlacing method if the amount of motion in the video data changes.

  • Patent number: 5443390
Abstract: A MIDI/joystick breakout box is described which incorporates a shielded connector, a shielded cable, and a terminal block including a circuit board with an extensive ground plane surrounding the joystick connections and shielding the MIDI circuitry on at least three sides. The terminal block is a housing which acts as a radiation shield. The housing or terminal block may be made of an injected molded plastic material containing electrically conductive strands of metal or the housing may be plated or painted on its interior surfaces with an electrically conductive material to form a shielding layer which may then be further connected to the ground plane of the electronic circuit board contained within the terminal block housing. The terminal block provides connectors for MIDI-In, MIDI-Out MIDI-Thru and a pair of joystick interface connectors which allows the capability to connect both MIDI devices and two joysticks to the audio adapter card simultaneously.
